Hey everyone,

I just got a DSP7200HC that's hooked up to my 861v4 via RCA coax & comms cables. I also have some DSP8000SEUP's hooked up to the 861v4 thru a 218 with SpeakerLink.

With the 218 and SpeakerLink, I can change the name of the source on the display of the DSP8000's.

Is there a way I could send the comms via SpeakerLink from the DSP8000's to the DSP7200HC so it displays the same source name?

Here's my problem for example:

- DSP8000's display 'WMC' (custom name)
- DSP7200HC displays 'DVD' (default source name)

Can you describe a little more how you have Comms from 861v4 connected to DSP7200HC?
Which Comms socket on the 861v4?

Which speaker is set a 'Master' (red LED)

Hey Rick,

I'm using the BNC comms input on the 7200HC, I think from the 861 slave patch panel with a DIN to BNC adapter. My right DSP8000SEUP is the master speaker.

Comms are working fine, just wondering if there's a way to edit the display name when using RCA/BNC inputs on the DSP7200HC. I'm able to edit the DSP8000SE display names via the 218 web interface (218 to DSP8000SE uses SpeakerLink), and I'd like the DSP7200HC to match.

Would it be possible somehow with an AC12? Maybe something like this?
- Digital input to AC12: RCA from 861v4
- Comms input to AC12: BNC from DSP8000SE (to get display name to match)
- SpeakerLink output to DSP7200HC

Run SpeakerLink comms Out of the slave DSP8000 to the SpeakerLink Comms input of the DSP7200HC
Disconnect the current Din comms to the DSP7200 from the 861

That may be all that is required.

Or if that doesn't work.
Type the DSP7200HC to be RJ45 input.
Then Configure it to use its D2 input for the Sources you use, so it uses its coaxial digital input instead of SpeakerLink audio input.

Hey Rick, did some testing tonight and got some interesting results:

Option #1:
Run SpeakerLink comms Out of the slave DSP8000 to the SpeakerLink Comms input of the DSP7200HC
Disconnect the current Din comms to the DSP7200 from the 861

Results: Speaker turns on and volume control works, but name on display did not update (ultimate goal)


Option #2:
Type the DSP7200HC to be RJ45 input.
Then Configure it to use its D2 input for the Sources you use, so it uses its coaxial digital input instead of SpeakerLink audio input.

Results: Have to change speaker to MASTER to be able to change input sources. Did that, power cycled, and then changed back to SLAVE. Name updated on display and sound worked on source #1 (WMC), but no sound on source #2 (Apple TV).

So close... I'll do some more experimenting this weekend...

Also just tried this:
- Change speaker to MASTER to change input settings
- Press CD, change display setting to NONE (blank is better than mismatched names)
- Power cycle
- Change back to SLAVE
- Power on, display still says CD

So it appears if you change the input settings on MASTER and change back to SLAVE, they don't persist?

Maybe I have to make my center speaker a MASTER for this to work? I believe I was told one of my DSP8000SEUP have to be MASTER with how they're connected to the 218, though.

Ah yes, the D2 input only works when the speaker is a Master!
But you need one of the DSP8000 to be master for the 218 connection, and you can't have two Masters in the system.
So you will have to input the Audio and Comms into the DSP7200HC on its SpeakerLink connection.

Looks like You need an AC12.
Or upgrade your 861v4 to an 861v6 or v8?
