Interesting comment in the DSP9 article about a forthcoming firmware update to grant the XD800 (I presume the writer means the 8000XE!) extra bass slam before the year is out. I hope this firmware will be applicable to my performance pack 8000SEs.
I wonder if Steve May had permission to release that information nugget?!
I guess I am now on firmware watch!

I’ve just had a listen to the Anna Lapwood - Chevaliers De Sangreal, piece that was mentioned in the review. The lower bass pipes are staggeringly good. I’m think some of my internal organs may need putting back in place.

Good to see a DSP9 review. Still waiting to see a 8000XE one. I am surprised how audio mags have been ignoring this product.

Are they ignoring or are they just not being given review samples? Even if they were ignoring things I can't imagine Meridian actually care. I suspect they have enough of a reputation amongst their target demographic through dealer demonstrations and word of mouth to ensure that they could sell more units than they can make. Reviews would just add to costs and create logistical issues.

I don’t believe that Meridian even sufficiently care about their dealers, either.
I know of one instance whereby Naim are actually spending serious promotional money to create a ‘Naim Wall’ of their products - which will replace Meridian’s premiere presence in the store, with their products relegated to the back of the premises.

Do Meridian even consider Naim as competitors? Will a 'Naim wall' and being relegated to the back actually damage sales and even if it did would that damage outweigh any delta between demand and supply? If you can already sell everything you can produce at the price you want it could be argued that spending serious promotional money is folly. I am sure it makes sense for Naim but that doesn't mean it does for Meridian.
Anyway this is probably a tad off topic for this thread.

I’m think some of my internal organs may need putting back in place. I tried digging this piece out too but unfortunately I don't have it on my HD but I agree that it's great to see Meridian kit being reviewed again and it's also great to see the DSP9 getting such an enthusiastic response.
