Greetings all!

I downloaded the Configuration Program from the Korean website. Before the program will setup it tries connecting to the Meridian website for "updates". The connection fails and the program fails to load. Rinse and repeat. I've tried all the usual tricks. Is my experience unique? Has anyone tried to get this to work recently and succeeded?

Help! I suspect the Meridian server is no longer serving support here, so I will need some way around this.

I would try the web archive wayback machine to see if you can get an installer link that still works. IIRC there used to be a version of the installer that had the full program and not just an executable that looks to pull the latest version from a server before proceeding.

The last version I think is 3.2 something and came out in October/November of 2022.

Meridian getting out of the equipment business though for all intents and purposes is essentially discontinuing active support and servicing of most of their products other than DSP speakers and the 200 series boxes. The latter of which can be configured via LAN and WiFI using a laptop or a smartphone app.

So you can see where things are going.

That said they should still have these links and servers working for existing customers or people who acquire discontinued Meridian gear second hand. The config programs are the only way to properly set them up.

New Meridian ownership and management has been making a lot of very questionable decisions.

I thought I had multiple versions of the config and could help you out but I don't. I'm quite sure I had them at one time, maybe I deleted the older ones, but I'd found them on the way back machine as well.

However your post got me worried and thinking about the future so I tried it and mine installed and ran fine. It did connect to Meridian servers. Is it possible you have another problem with your connection?

I just reconfigured my two systems here and used the installer from the Korean site (I had to install it on a new laptop).

It connects and updates to the Meridian server fine. Perhaps their end was down - otherwise I think its you. It does prefer being run in Administrator mode but should tell you if this is an issue.

I was able to source the program through Bruce Sinclair (thanks Bruce!) and have it installed and working just fine.

It must be some security setting or something on my end which doesn't allow me to connect to Meridian servers. My internet connection appears to be otherwise working fine. I disabled my firewall, tried various browsers, rebooted several times, burned incense while chanting, then drank alcohol while cursing - no joy.

Nevertheless, the program is THE BALLS!! Really nicely done Meridian - intuitive, basic, 'it just works' as they say. I'm very impressed!

Hi Bill,
Have you tried running as administrator?
In the Windows start menu, find the Meridian Configuration program in the Meridian Folder
Right click it
Click 'More >'
and then 'Run as Adminstrator'
Once the program opens then 'Help' on the top toolbar and and 'Check for updates'

I NEVER would have thought to try this. Unfortunately, in order to run the program, I bought a used computer at a garage sale. It's history is a mystery. When I attempt to sign in as administrator a password is required. I've tried my usual "password", "admin" - no joy. I'm wondering if the update is something I need. The program is working fine as is.

I know I could scrub the drive, install a copy of XP as a solution. I could also virtualize a copy of XP on my Unraid server, search how to pass through coax audio as a solution.

Is an updated program worth the effort?

The main reason for Meridian updating the Configuration program is to include new products or incorporate new features added into product firmware releases.
Earlier versions of the Config program won't have items like UHD722 for example.
If you can configure all the components of your system then you should be fine.

I can configure my things and then some! I'm sure I have a pretty modern iteration (Thanks Bruce!) which has every product as far as I can tell.
