For the comms lead, I'll need a Coax with two BNC converters for the ends.

Looks like configuring the HD621 can be done via MConfig (only).
Does anybody know where to get from a cable off the shelf (amazon etc) to connect Meridian RS232 to a laptop?
I have the MConfig software installed.

So as I understand the two cable combination (from wiki) works perfectly. Although doesn't mention Windows 10 compatibility, stops at W7. But there are plenty USB-A to DB9 RS232 Female cables out there, which would be a single cable job. Or these are hit and miss? Some people are using them. StartechCableCreation

Hi,
I was away for many weeks, now I’m back with the HD621. Haven’t used it yet.
It’s connected to the G61RSL with 3 cables to MD1. 1/2 to L/R, 3/4 to C and 5/6 to SURR.
DIN comms are also connected between the two units.
Now, what will be the benefit having the comms connected? Input switch I assume from remote?

Hi,
You still need to set up the HD621 via the configuration program for your HDMI sources, but yes switching via the remote would be a benefit. There are details in the wiki.

I'll get the RS232 cable soon for MConfig.
Never used it before, so I expect some challenges.
Bought the HD621 used, who knows what kind of settings the previous owner used.

It would be nice to know which chipset version of the USB (laptop end) to RS232 female (HD621 end) cables work with Meridian.
I'm talking about single cable solution between laptop and HD621.
Amazon for example sells these cables with either PL2303 chipset or FTDI chipset. I have no idea what they mean, but sounds like the type of chipset matters.

Just received a cable from Amazon. cableUSB to RS232 Adapter with FTDI Chipset, CableCreation 6.6ft USB 2.0 Male to RS232 Female Gold Plated DB9 Serial Converter Cablefor Windows 10, 8.1, 8, 7, Vista, XP, 2000, Linux and Mac OS X 10.6 and Above,Black Recognizes what it's connected to it, but after that says Fetching product information...and then three different fails. Looks like this is not a good one for this purpose. Actually I saw on the forum people using cable with PL2303 chipset. So I don’t know. I need it for the connection between my laptop to HD621’s RS232. My connection between the laptop and G61RSL’s USB is working perfectly. At this point I don’t mind about price and two cable solutions (with null cable), just need it to work. Thanks.
