I've just moved a few components around and had to unplug my DSP33's and now they seem bricked.
I drive them from a 561 and have configured it for L=DSP33, R=DSP33, C=M33, Surround=Other analogue.
The center and surrounds work ok, but no sound out of the DSP33's
I have checked cables and checked power and used the 5pin comm reset plug in both.
When I run the old Meridian Configuration Program plugged into either speaker and try to load configuration I get a final error: Request Failed (Timed out waiting for MBBS ACK).
The same computer + serial cable works fine configuring the 561.
Any advice?

Hi,
Have you checked that the green lights are on at the rear of the speakers? They are usually dim when in standby and brighter when out of standby.
Double-check the comms cables - make sure you have the comms in and comms out cables in the correct way around, also double-check the digital cables - make sure you are in to D1 and OUT to the other speaker's D1 input.
They can sometimes be 'fussy' to communicate with via serial ports - try turning off and on again with just power connected to see if your PC can communicate with them.
Good luck,
Steve

Hi,
I have double/triple checked the comms leads: 561 coms->DSP L->slave cable->DSP R; and swapped them around. I have checked digital cables. Checked mains cables. LED's are bright.
All turned off and on again several times. Tried RS232 from pc to each speakers with not other connections except power. The PC/cable/software works with 561 with no problems.

If the LEDs are bright, then I'm fairly sure that they're out of standby...
In which case, I would check to see if they can accept a digital signal from elsewhere. If you have a CD player or something else with a digital output, then connect that to the D1 input on one speaker and see if you get sound. Use a fresh lead (any phono to phono lead will work) - Then do the same to the other speaker.
If that works, then there could either be a cable issue or a problem with the processor. If it doesn't work, then there's a problem with the speakers.
Let us know how you get on.
Cheers,
Steve

Thanks for suggesting checking the speakers directly from a digital source... I'll give it a go. just got to find a digital source with coax output. The 561 has one, but I guess the 561 need eliminating from the signal chain ... hmmm

Yes.
The LED on each speaker flashed rapidly when turning the DSP's on with the plug inserted indicating that the re-set was happening, but to no effect.

After realising that one of my old PCs has a digital audio header on the Mother board, hunting through a box of bits to find the digital I/O back plate with a coax connector on it to set up a digital source. Then connecting each speaker, one at a time, checking L/R, then connecting both in to each other all seemed to work. Connecting again with the OE S5/digital audio cable, still worked.
Finally brining the 561 into play all works. Looks like the DSP's just needed a rest overnight and are now pretending that nothing ever happened.
JOY ?

Is there a chance that it was the 561 causing issue?
Maybe the wrong output coax on the 561? 🤣 I’ve done that when working over a unit previously 🤦🏻♂️
Glad to hear all is working again!

That's what the kit wants me to believe, gaslighting me into believing that I was wiring things up incorrectly yesterday.
