I've just been told today that the firmware update by the Meridian importer will cost me NZD135, not counting the dealer markup.

Is this normal in the UK? I note that Meridian does not allow customers to do the update - any explanation why?

Hi,

Firmware should be available from your local dealer or failing that I suggest you contact one of the HH friendly dealers that post on here.

The dealers that I have dealt with would not charge for the firmware, but of course that depend on what relationship you have with them and I think it fair that most would charge for their services if they are to install it.

I'll PM you the the contact details of the HH friendly dealers, I'm sure someone will be able to help you.

Regards,
Carl

Thanks for the PM. I have to pay, otherwise I do not get the HD621 back!

I would like an answer to my question though - why did Meridian stop customers updating the firmware? It is a straightforward process.

Were you pre-advised what the fee would be, and did you agree to it? If you didn't I think you have good grounds to make a complaint.

I guess that's a rhetorical question, as only Meridian can answer it and they don't post on here anymore.

From a my perspective ... I know Meridian don't make it easy, but it is possible.
