I have installed Roon on my Meridian system. My speakers are all calibrated. I see that Roon has DSP settings, do they have impact on my speakers and should I stay with the standard Roon DSP settings?

Hi,
This is something I will be experimenting with in due course now my 3200 are back in place.
Roon has some very interesting features and I think it’s a case of trial and error.. at the end of the day you can always put it back to the beginning and start again.
Best of luck David

I struggle with too much bass at some frequencies, so I find the DSP Parametric EQ very useful to help manage and reduce, when I can’t tackle this properly through bass traps and ideal placement options etc.

I agree, it’s pure trial and error for me. I need to dial the bass back and bring the mid out a bit more. The speakers having to be so close to the wall can make them sound boomy sometimes with music. I’m still experimenting with what and how each band changes the sound.

I have been using ROON DSP for the past several years since it’s initial release to present day. The capabilities and flexibility are incredible.
I have found that there is no ‘one’ setting, as each type of music as well the quality of production create for variability in sound reproduction.
I do however prefer turning on the Parabolic capability over having it turned off. In particular with the higher frequencies there is an addition level of clarity that I find superior to having it turned off.
I am always looking for primers and/or overviews on this latest ROON capabilities in particular for new DSP functionality, if there are some great links with educational value, I’m always in the market for that.

Having spent a good afternoon playing music and experimenting I have to say the Roon's DSP settings are amazing! Using an iPad for ‘tweaks’ and setting up a few that I was able to toggle on/off with various A/B listening I really was able to home in on frequencies that needed adjusting to my taste.
Ultimately.. I’ve since reverted back to Trifield 💁🏻♂️
I think that given my system and it’s limited MQA capabilities (DSP3200 mains) it works best for me to spread the sound across the front soundstage and enjoy the amazing effect of Trifield.
But the Roon DSP is brilliant! And I would encourage anyone to have a play and experiment! Maybe on the future as the system evolves again I may well be using it.

Have you found the problem frequencies become less problematic when running in Trifield vs 2ch? I tend to find that to be the case plus it varies between DSP settings (Trifield and PLII Music present very differently to me).
You have a G61, have you tried Meridian’s Room Correction? At this point as I’ve recently changed my centre, I have re run MRC and am trying it with a couple of tweaks. There is some excellent advice in the Meridian Wiki about how to exploit MRC posts its initial assessment.

Hi, yes I did find that through the G61 the sound was tamed in the bass and became more smooth. Trifield opened up the voices in my room and helps with the room characteristics to my ear. Running direct from the 210 I found it almost muddy in the mid range 💁🏻♂️
MRC is something I am going to experiment with and the Wiki page will be of great help I’m sure.
I have a radio shack sound level meter and screened cable ready to go.. just need the time 😖🤣
