Not sure I fully understand EBA - where does it reside? Is it a processor function or does it reside in the DSP speaker itself?

For example, will an AC200 with EBA work with legacy DSP’s, or must the DSP be “EBA compatible” as well?

As far as I can tell, it would be done in the speaker as the delay is easiest added after the digital cross-overs. You'll see Meridian talk about here as a feature of the speaker, albeit under EBA's new name FFA.

I would imagine it would be possible to manipulate the bitstream to do this in the processor, but you'd likely need a more powerful chipset than they have today.

It’s in the speakers, you can turn it on/off in the speaker settings (or set it to SpeakerLink to allow the processor to turn it on/off.). EBA won’t work on legacy speakers.

I left mine on the SL setting, found that my main speakers with EBA were noticeably delayed from my legacy center speaker. I turn EBA on via 218/Meridian Control app for two channel listening, and off for watching TV/movies.

Just so everyone’s aware, the 218 adds a delay as well, so if you’re using a 218 with 861, you have to adjust your speaker distances. Details in the 218 tips & tricks thread.
