Does anyone know if legacy processors (i.e. non-EBA, 568/861v4, etc.) take account of any extra distance for time-aligning subs? E.g. when inputting distance settings for the speakers in setup, does the software 'behind the scenes' add another few feet to better align the sub with the mains? Or would this be done manually if one wanted to try and achieve this?

How the processor could know the delay necessary to the sub ???

In my set, sub is physically at 2 meters. I need to put 8,9 m in Configuration Program to match correctly with my other speakers...

It would know because you put the distance to the sub from the listening position when you run through config. It also knows the relative distance of the other speakers from the same process.

The question is whether (prior to EBA) the processor delays the mains ‘behind the scenes’ to account for group delay when a sub is present in the config. If not, one could add distance to mains (or subtract sub distance) to roughly compensate. Without knowing if the software accounts for this, any manual adjustment would be essentially over-correcting.

How did you determine the 8,9 m figure?

For the time sub alignement, I use Time alignment function from Rew.
Measurement without subwoofer, and subwoofer alone.
