Hello Meridianers,

I wanted to get myself a centre to go with my two L/R M33s, possibilities would be DSP33 or M33C (centre variant of the M33, if there is one) or something from the larger series.

What would harmonise well or at best tonally super?
I'm thinking of a DSP5000C for example.

Oh yes, 568.2 is available for the purpose of cabling.

Greetings Ron

Hi Ron

I believe that Meridian did market a DSP33C, it was just a DSP33 with the badge turned to the horizontal position and supplied with a small stand for placing it that position.

I would suggest that a DSP33C would suit the other two perfectly but the DSP5kC would be a step up in presence and performance. Obviously, I would recommend a 24bit version, if you are going down the DSP5kC route.

Cheers
Jon

Thanks for your input Jon, yes I was a bit surprised about the DSP33C, I know it from other manufacturers where you should turn the tweeter for the horizontal position as centre, why is that not necessary with the DSP33C?

If it is a DSP5KC I will try to get a 96/24 minimum.

Meridian use a unidirectional dome tweeter, thus no driver orientation issues.

Hi,

If you refer to Duncan's Meridian Info, you will notice that it lists a DSP33C, along with pictures. the one with no grill shows that the tweeter is between the two other mid range/bass units, hence why it is not necessary to turn the tweeter to a horizontal position.

Hopefully this answers your question. The DSP33 are a brilliant little speaker but the DSP5kc 24 bit will give you greater presence to your centre channel.

Cheers
Jon

Am I to understand that you are saying that the DSP5KC will not really integrate well but will always be more present than the M33 or DSP33?
So it is not advisable mix?

I have a M33C in brilliant condition which is available. I actually have a trio of M33's which were used as LCR.
It was in use until last week and works perfectly, no damage to the speaker, body or grill.
If your interested please let me know [via Private Message] and I will come back with a fair price as would prefer someone was making use of it VS it sitting in storage.

Cheers
Brian

I use a single M33 as a center for L/R M33's. A 1cm diameter roll of bluetack secures the speaker tilt angle.
