I'm coming from a set of M60 Mk1's. The DSP5000.2's sound great. They are a 9 out of 10 condition I would say. Got lucky. I set them up as type 5 with a streaming box into D1. I'm using digital volume control from the streaming box at the moment- also picked up a Meridian Distributor3 to use as an interface to my Integra Pre/Pro for L/C/R channels and got it working, but haven't had much time to play with it. I still need to play with the tilt a little and also a DSP5000C.1 that was upgraded to 24/96.
You can configure the Distributor3 using a terminal program on your PC or Mac. Each of the three channels of the Distributor 3 has a USB connection. Each USB connection powers and configures its respective channel. When you get the terminal running you might need to turn on serial echo to get a correct terminal screen output. Once you get the command line interface going there is a help function. Using the help function for each channel I was able to program the entire box to power on and retain the analog inputs as the input after power cycling. It's a little odd that the box needs three USB cables to power the entire unit, but I guess they just slapped three distributor 1's in there and called it a day.
Because overkill is underrated, I bought the latest Denon 7.2 AVR and 8 channels of I2S to SPDIF boards. The plan is to tap the I2S lines to the DACs on the AVR and create 8 channels of processed SPDIF. Hopefully there isn't some kind of monolithic Denon ASIC in there. We shall see.
Anyone have any DSP5000 related tips? They are a step up from the M60 mk1's. I also owned a pair of M60 mk2's, which sounded much better than the mk1's. The DSP5000.2's sound better than both I would say. Very detailed and clean. Clean enough that I probably won't recap them any time soon unless I get really bored. I'm pretty good at recapping Meridians now after recapping both Paris of M60's and fixing the hot resistors.
Pretty happy with the purchase. I was looking for a set of DSP7000's but they were hard to find and probably too big.

5k's provide a surprising amount of detail and clean, though not "over abundant", bass. Plus they can disappear visually into a room since they are so small. Do you have a means to do an LCR setup? A 5k center would be a match though finding a .2 might be more difficult. There are 7-seg 24/96's out there.
The primary thing with 5k's, as with any speaker, is positioning and toe. Your room will dictate the sweet spot but REALLY experiment with how far they are from corner/wall and how much toe-in they have.

I was able to pickup an 5000C that was upgraded to 24/96. Hard to find the 5000C.2's. Are you speaking about the Trifield mode with the center? Can I setup Trifield with just the L/C/R or do I need a 500 series box?
I will play with the positioning. Thanks.

To do Trifield you need a Meridian SSP.

Gotcha. Thanks.
I was able to get the Distributor 3 fired up and in the signal path. In the process, I performed some A/B testing with the Distributor 3 on D1 and pure digital into D2. All processing was disabled in my Integra SSP- direct mode. With leveled volume, I could not detect a difference in quality between inputs. I have a new RTA and will run some tests at some point for fun.
I also got the DSP5000C fired up and re-ran the room correction. Big step up from my M33 center.
So far so good. I need to figure out what to do with my M60s and three M33s.
My poor man’s digital out SSP is probably overkill at this point, but if successful it will have all the latest digital features like eARC so I will be ready for next season’s OLED shopping spree.
