Still, I’d like to hear some or better 5 of them in a surround set up! Will there ever be opportunity for those that have zero chance of owning ?

Compared to my 7200SE's, they are astonishing.

They deliver more realistic sound-staging (and sound-staging that stretches beyond the speakers to become truly invisible in Meridian's own listening room), the tonality is on another level, the speakers have more presence and far greater clarity. The additional presence will no doubt be partly true of the DSP8000SE too, however I suspect the other benefits are largely down to the XE hardware.

I gather they were aiming for a 'no holes barred' speaker without setting a price limit. In the process, they specified the best drivers they could and no doubt applied the same principle to the redesigned DACs and amps. This is a significant departure from their previous speakers where the drivers were bought to a price point and then tweaked to make them (through DSP) to perform well. This time, they appear to use excellent drivers and tweak them to perform even better.

I believe they achieved everything they set out to do, albeit at a higher price than the 8000SEs. I'm hoping to buy a pair, although this is slightly hindered by the need not to wake up two sleeping boys in the evenings!

I need Bitcoin to hit 40k then I can buy these new pairs. 4 Ohm amplifiers correct now.
