My system has a new to me 861v8 and 800v4. I am attempting to hook up my legacy DSP speakers.
I have made cables with CAT 7 out from 861 which divides into two parts. This is essentially as suggested in the "SpeakerLink used as Digital Out (XLR or SPDIF) plus COMMS and RS232" thread.
Lead 1&2 of the Cat 7 connect to Comms and leads 7&8 from the CAT 7 cable connect to a XLR to SPDIF with a 10dB pad adapter (Canare BCJ-XJ-A10TRA).
The cable to the center (Master) speaker works great with sound and proper reading on the speaker from the comm lead. Sound volume works. None of the other speakers come out of standby.
Help please.

3 AC12's will save you a bunch of aggravation, unless you enjoy that sort of thing. 🤣
A comms return to the next DSP speaker from the Master should fix you up though.

UPDATE
I was able to find one AC12 and have made the cables as suggested on this forum.
I am able to get sound from all of the speakers but The volume control is not responding or does so variously depending on how I have hooked everything up.
I have tried several different speakers as master and controller and also the 861 as controller but no joy. I am now wondering if I need upgraded firmware in the speakers. I believe the 861 is at the latest firmware.
I have two 6000 upgraded speakers as mains, two 5500 upgraded rears, a D2500 sub, and a 5500HC. I'm not certain of the firmware in any of the speakers.
I am only able to choose 200 or 500 not G for communications mode in the 5500HC.
I am also confused as to what it means for the other speakers when in programming mode I push play and rotate from blank (Master) to S to S.S. I assume that a single S means slave, what does S.S mean?
This has been a very frustrating process!

Hi, Yes, “S” is for Slave. “SS” is for Slave Surround, but it’s a redundant option … Meridian never documented what it does / when it should be selected. Regards, Carl

Problem finally solved and I have a working SpeakerLink to legacy speakers system using 3 AC12's.
Many thanks to Bruce (CMB Integrations) for his patient help and suggestions. I can't thank him enough.
