Hi,
I have been using an Oppo 105D for long time since I changed to a 4k TV, wondering if HD621 able to have sound if there was 4k signal was sent.
(As I knew have to be both video and sound signal together to make it worked.)

I would suggest to take a look at the Vertex2 There are several threads on this forum as far as I know. The Vertex2 can create a dedicated 720/1080p HDMI audio output, by splitting the signals. I don't have experience with this device myself yet, but in the future someday when upgrading to 4k, I will need one...

My Opppo 203 sends hi-res audio to the HD621 via its dedicated HDMI 1.4 audio port, which the 205 also has, or by using an HDMI extractor. I manage multiple video sources to a projector with relatively inexpensive 4k splitter and switch.
So, no the audio and video signals are not together, but separated in this type of setup.

If you are using an Oppo 203 to feed the TV the 4K signal, you can use the secondary audio only output to the HD621.
Higher end equipment tends to have dual HDMI outputs.
More consumer level devices, XBox/PS5/AppleTV 4K etc will need a Vertex2 or the newer VRRoom since they only have a single HDMI output.

I'm confused, do you mean Oppo 203 or 205 can worked with a HD621? Because my dealer told me that a HD621 need both signals to work.
As I know 203 or 205 have 2 HDMI which separate audio and video?

Hi Claero,
With HDMI even where the is no video content from the source, there is still a video carrier signal that has the audio embedded within it.
In short "audio only" HDMI 1.4 outputs work just fine with the HD621, it will still be able to extract the audio content from the HDMI signal.

Just buy a sony X800M, works so much better

I have an Oppo 203 and used the audio "only" HDMI to a HD621 and, more recently, a UHD722 with no problems.
My TV is 4k, and the Oppo drove the TV at 4k from its primary output, while the audio only output drove sound through the 861/UHD722 combination.
