Has anyone successfully run Meridian Config in Windows 10 or 11?

I am considering up versioning from Win 7 running in Parallels 17 on a MacBook Pro 16" (2019) (MacOS 12.2 - Monterey) and MConfig runs with some graphics blocking in Room Correction. Parallels will run Win 10 & 11, so it's just a question on the wisdom of going from Win 7 to Win 10 for MConfig.

I can't comment from the aspect of you are asking about using Parallels, 2019 MacBook Pro and Mac OS. Hopefully someone in the Forum using that combination will answer those questions, positively for you.

For everyone just using a PC, I have used MConfig without any problem on Windows 10 ever since it was originally released. All the Meridian Softwares still work on the latest version of Windows 10 such as Sooloos Touch PC, MConfig software suite installer, Meridian Device Manager Installer V37, Sooloos ControlPC (Sooloos Core required) and Meridian Explorer2 Windows USB driver.

I have no intention of upgrading to Windows 11 until I am told everything is working fine. I have a Free Upgrade to Windows 11 as I got myself a Microsoft Surface Studio 2 which has a 28” PixelSense™ Display with 4500 x 3000 (192 PPI) resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, and 10 point multi-touch. It is now my ROON Core but I also still use Sooloos as I know where everything is quicker given I bought my C15 in March 2013, 9 years ago. The Studio 2 makes the C15 look and feel very ancient. I can highly recommend the Studio 2 as a ROON Core. It is simply all about the screen !

I am still getting used to ROON (essentially the core team that started Sooloos in the USA, but with their ability to software decode MQA streaming with from Tidal, it is an a necessity for me. I have an 861v6 and enjoy my surround sound so have no choice but to use ROON. It goes through to to my ID41 and it of course is not "authenticated on the 861v8 nor my DSP8000SE's, ROON shows you that and there is a very distinct difference for the better playing my MQA Album versions from Tidal compared to my FLAC versions on Sooloos. I can live with that but I do have an 218 bought but not in my hands as yet, to put between the 861v8 and the DSP8000SE's to get the best of both worlds.

For anyone using a PC to run Meridan software, go ahead and upgrade to Windows 10 but hang off from upgrading to Windows 11 until you receive the positive feedback of everything still working by someone on this Forum.

If it’s an Intel Mac; I had a much better experience using M.Config via BootCamp/Windows compared to using Parallels on my MacBook Pro.

Thanks Steve. I will go ahead and update then. Meridian has not updated its MConfig download page at all recently, so I didn’t want to risk breaking MConfig being able to run.

A useful note to other Mac users, whom would need the drivers for the RS232/USB adaptor, is to ensure these drivers are up to date.

That’s something I may still go for, depending on how well it behaves in Parallels, and need to check on how Boot Camp works in Monterey.

At least Microsoft still provides an indirect download/install route from Win 7 to 10 now the direct update method has been withdrawn.

Well, I now have Win 10 installed in Parallels and it's OK apart from a weird problem in MConfig, which refuses to show my G98DH in its breadcrumb trail apart from it's Store option. The other M units show up and operate normally in the trail (G61RSL & G01) and the graphics blocking behaviour has gone as well. The same .msl files show the rest of the trail fine in Win 7, which I can run concurrently with Win 10 in Parallels. I won't attempt a Store just yet but Fetch works OK.

Meridian do not yet mention Win 10 in its compatibility list though.

What were you finding less satisfactory in Parallels?

No matter what I tried, I could not feed a Tidal Stream from my Microsoft Surface Studio 2 using the USB cord between it and the USB port in the ID29 of my 861v8. There was never a Audio Output to select for the ID29 USB port. It was all set up fine as a connection on the MConfig programme. So I threw my hat in the ring and chanced that I might have success of using the free upgrade to Windows 11. Meridian states that you don't need a Meridian Audio Driver for Windows 10, well I would love to know what the solution is ?

I can tell you now, nothing loaded from Meridian worked when they all worked in Windows 10. Meridian states that you don't need a Meridian Audio Driver for Windows 10, well I would love to know what the solution is ? Over to Meridian to upgrade their software for the future. Stay clear of Windows 11 until the upgrades come.

Appreciate any suggestions for installing the right driver for Windows 10 to see the Audio Output option of the ID29 USB port. Rick and Bruce, I am all ears.

Looking forward to getting my 218 into my system so I can decode and render with my 218 and SE speakers.

So the moral of the story is do not upgrade to Windows 11 until Meridian issues its updated software downloads.

Does your pc have an rs232 port or do you use USB rs232 adapter?

OK I had a look around & it seems like Tripp Lite USB to serial is the one to go for?

Any other suggestions gratefully received
