Hello all,
I just got a 561 and a pair of DSP5000.2. I'm playing around with the legacy software for programming the 561 and wondered (since I remapped all my inputs to custom names on the 561) if it was possible for the DSP5000.2 to display my new source names.
Its a little disconcerting when I select "LP" on the remote, the 561 goes to LP 65 (volume), but the speakers say "SLS 65".
Its not the end of the world, but it would be nice if they matched. I could turn off the display on the speakers, but then I lose the volume setting (which I like)
The speakers software may predate the ability to have their displays change, but I just thought I would ask the experts. Has anyone tried changing the DSP5000.2 displays via computer?

Hi Dan,
You can configure the DSP5000.2's by going into configuration mode. It is then possible to adjust the labels for each source.
If you look in the manual (Found in Duncan's Meridian Info at the top of the page) - Page 32 onwards details how to set things up.
You can adjust all the speaker settings using the remote control.
Hope that helps.

Thank you Steve. That wasn't just helpful, it was VERY helpful. It allowed me to get 95% there. The only thing it doesn't let me do, that I could discover, was to name the sources to the custom names I used on the 561. For instance, I have a source (originally "Radio") dedicated to "CD Direct" for the Direct sound mode. The 561 let me program in CDDIR as the source name, but I couldn't figure out how to do that with the DSP5000.2s. So I set the speakers to just display "CD". Is there any type of computer program from Meridian, that you (or any other HH'ers) are aware of, that would let me customize the source names on the speakers (rather than just choose from their {admittedly large} list)? In going through the source list on the speakers, I noticed C1, C2, C3, etc.. I assumed this was for a custom setting, but I couldn't figure out how to change it from "C1" to "CDDIR" (for example). My sources currently are my SACD changer, my Turntable, and the output of my computer. Fortunately for me "CD", "LP", & "PC" are standard choices on the speakers. But I would Like "CDDIR" or "PCSYNC" if that was possible. Thanks again for the great help!

There was talk that you could edit the firmware to change some of the preset labels, but last time I looked at it, I couldn't work out what needed to be changed and did not want to risk 'bricking' the speakers!
Do have a search around the forum as the process may have been documented, or may work for certain firmware versions...
At least you've made some progress and got something that starts to make sense!
Cheers,
Steve

At least you've made some progress and got something that starts to make sense! Yep - thanks to you! Its not that important to me - I don't want to risk any damage to the speakers.

Is there any type of computer program from Meridian, that you (or any other HH'ers) are aware of, that would let me customize the source names on the speakers (rather than just choose from their {admittedly large} list)? This is a feature introduced to later 'SpeakerLink' systems running latest firmware. A current G65 or 861v8 can now 'push' the custom names you set up in their configurations out to SpeakerLink speakers. Unfortunately not possible with the 561 Regards, Rick

Thank you Rick.
I'm pretty happy with what I have, as far as the customization goes.
