Although I asked this question already on some other thread I'll repost it, since the original is probably hidden well enough already... [Linked Image from softronix.com]

Did anyone manage to get any specifications (I'm mainly interested in how low do they go) for the new Meridian subs, which were displayed at CES? I understand that they will not be available before Fall 2005 and MSRP was not yet disclosed, but maybe some performance details were?

My guess is that they will be the same. No reason other than the 5200's seem to be the same spec as the 5000's e.g. freq's, height, weight etc. Same logic may apply

Yep, that might be the case, I just hope they would go lower. Judging from the photos at:
http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_12_1/show-report-ces-2005-page-4.html

at least the cones of the drivers seem to be new. Hopefully they will enhance the performance, too.

If Meridian were happy enough to demonstrate these new subs at CES why the delay in shipping them until Autumn 2005?

Someone told me they were just empty boxes and M was only previewing them to dealers to see what they think and assist development. CES isn't a public show, and they didn't 'demonstrate' them, they were just proto boxes sitting there so dealers could be shown them, I gather.

Very interesting. I wonder if last year's G units on static display at CES were empty boxes too? The thought of an empty G68 box winning the "best of CES in high end audio" award tickles me somewhat!

Cheers

G was well out by then and they had demo systems running on the stand, so I doubt it. [Linked Image from softronix.com]

Let's hope they make the subs as good as they can be. With superiority for high-rez music and high-rez movies.

It would be cool to not have to think about subs of different brands (Revel, Martin Logan, Krell), just get the best one from Meridian ;-)
