Listen to a Meridian Digital Sub and then try an Analoug one.
I have a M1500 sub and it is stunning with both music (Subtle) or Movies Omph.
Good Luck, Chris

Hi,
If your buying Retail they should be able to demo stuff.
Mistakes can be expensive.
I have never regreted buying Meridian it all works together so well.
Let them design it all, I cant be botherd to Hot Rod my Hi Fi. One less worry for me.
The wholle is more than the sum of the parts.
Regards, Chris

Personally I was not too impressed with the Meridian subs - they seemed to laid back for my tastes. In the end I went for a REL Stentor III which seems to work reasonably in my system (G91, 861, D7K, 5500HC, D5K). If I were looking now I suspect I'd also consider the Velodyne range (particularly the DD series). Subs, like all speakers, are really personal - you *must* listen to them preferably in your home environment since subs really are affected by the room in which you place them.

Just my 2c worth...

Graham

I'll second Graham on the REL Stentor III. Very happy with it for both music and movies. Partnered with 500/518/568.2/6ks/5kC, and also ran it with G98/G68D/6ks/5kC

Cheers

I just recently compared Velodyne DD12 with Revel B15..

There was no contest, the Revel B15 integrated so much better with the mains, it produced music!

The velodyne DD12 might be good for trucks running into walls, but on music it sucked in comparison and felt lacking.

The Mains where Amphion for the DD12 and Revel M22 for the B15.

I have not yet had the chance to see what the Meridian subs can do but I heard they were relasing updated ones this fall 2005 (CES pictures available).

That last picture is rather interesting..

Velodyne releasing their USP as a separate device. Surely sales of their DD range will drop because of this...I guess 499 can't be bad. Not sure what the difference is between Meridian's implementation of RC and Velodyne's implementation on their subs...Does anybody have any thoughts about this. Any preference or can they coexist quite happily?

Cheers

Richard

If they're showing-off these new Meridian subs at CES now, why is it going to take until Autumn before we can buy them?
