N.B. not for hifi use!

Anyone know of a high quality make of power strip, ideally 6 or 8 way, must be robust not in exterior sense but good heavy duty contacts inside.

Used to be that I’d just go for MK for these, or sockets of any kind, but word on the street is they’re not what they once were(?).

General use, TVs, routers. PCs, NAS, storage, chargers, etc.

Any recommendations appreciated.

These Olsen devices are robust, very well made and well priced.

I have had one in the garage for 25+ years without failure or damage despite heavy use and abuse.

Hi,

MCRU do a good range of cheap mains blocks as part of their range.

Thanks guys,

Could I just clarify that these are not for audio use, though, so I didn't want to pay quite this much - just a solid, heavy duty copper connection, like the old MK ones used to be? The Olsen look very heavy duty, but are as expensive if not more than the audiophile ones - I was thinking something maybe around the £30 mark, but maybe I can't have my cake and eat it!

Cheers.

At the budget end, £40 buys this Lindy mains conditioner strip.

Thanks, the Lindy strip looks good for the price, since this is not for serious hi-fi use.

Also, I noticed they do combined mains/USB charging strips/blocks which might be even more useful for the applications I need these for.

FWIW, I think that Lindy is a branded generic (cheap) Chinese unit, and an expensive one at that. The giveaway is the clear plastic showing off the choke. I've read stories about them burning out.

I would go for APC. For example: https://www.ebuyer.com/743732-apc-essential-surgearrest-8-outlets-230v-uk-pm8-uk

Take a look at Middle Atlantic. They are designed for equipment racks.

Sorry Bruce,

Middle Atlantic is on the wrong side of the pond.

Check out CPC Farnell or RS components.

Yeah, but MCRU are in the same inflated price audiophile category as the likes of Russ Andrews. And look, that generic Chinese power strip is there this time under the "Tacima" brand.

IMO, for non audio use, stay away from "audiophile" vendors.
