Just bought a 861 and it has a ID41 card. Not sure how to set it up or if any setup needs to be done.

At present when I power on the 861, Roon sees the ID41 card. However, as soon as I pick a song and click play, the ID41 disappears from Roon. It also disappears from the Meridian Sooloos Config program. I have to reboot the 861 to get the ID41 to appear again.

My network setup is Roon core to Netgear switch to another Netgear switch in another room and then to the Meridian 861.
The Meridian remote has a key for SLS do I select that to switch to the ID41 source?

I have a 218 that connects with Roon without any issue on the same switches.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to get into the configuration of the 861 with a PC and make sure that the is a Sooloos system connected to the ID41 in mconfig and store the configuration to the 861. The symptoms you are reporting suggest that this is not so.

I have a very similar set-up network wise but with an 818 and have also had similar issues.

The fact you have 2x Netgear switches rules out some issues I was having with TPLink switches.

It may be worth turning everything off including router and then turn router on 1st, followed by core and then the endpoints.

I have found doing this has made my network more stable.

I had exactly this symptom, but under Sooloos (only - I had no Roon at that time) when I fitted an ID40 to an 861v4 that had seemed to be working perfectly. It turned out to be a problem with a TP00 tape card and its fault was affecting the power rail. If you are unlucky you might have a similar problem (which version of the 861 do you have? Sorry, just seen your profile and I see you have a v8 so this cause is much less likely).

I have also had great difficulty with trying to run Sooloos and Roon together on the same network at the same time. I found that even though Sooloos endpoints were showing in Roon I couldn't use them because, it seemed, Sooloos grabbed them and wouldn't let go (if you see what I mean). The problems didn't manifest with non-Sooloos endpoints: Roon would find them and they would work.

I believe some Members are successful in running Sooloos and Roon side by side but I have given up and they now have separately defined networks (albeit sharing the same physical infrastructure.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. 14 years of using MConfig with the G68ADV and it still managed to trip me up when I switched to the 861v8.

As some of you have suggested, I didn't realize I had to have a phantom source connected to the ID41 card. Once I added that the problem resolved itself.

Seriously impressed with the 861v8 compared to the G68, the difference is like night and day.

Thanks again for you help and suggestions.
