Hi all

I'm trying to source a new or second-hand touch-screen for a C15, as the backlight has gone intermittent on one that I have.

So, if anyone has a faulty (main board, not screen) or a now retired C15 that they had been keeping for spares usage, I'd be interested in making use of it, so I can repair the C15 I have.

(Edit: I believe it's a M170EG01 type by AU Optronics - as yet I have not found a spare part backlight that could replace the existing one - and one supplier I found (https://www.laptop-lcd-screen.co.uk/) has listed the entire screen as "not available" so I'm waiting to hear back from them if they have backlight panels for this version).

I have already stripped most of the C15 down so, it is just now waiting until I can find another backlight section or a complete screen.

And yes I know lots of people say "go over to Roon", or "move away from the Sooloos kit" etc, but I happen to like it's form and function.

If you mean these TWO, from a seller based in Jersey?:

but £175 + £12 p&p and it has "some screen flicker" - so maybe a bit more than I'd want to pay.

Thanks for msgs received both here and via PM.

I did some searches online and came across a very useful Youtube video, showing how to replace the backlight on an Au Optronics M170EG screen.

Other videos are available, but this particular one shows a screen that is very much like the C15 screen I have.


There are three videos, showing the entire process in 3 steps - titled M170EG01-V8, Parts 1, 2 and 3 of 3







In the past, I've actually changed LCD screens on a few laptops - but this seems a bit more involved, as you need to take apart the entire screen, in order to get to the LED backlights.

Just seems to be a lot more involved and prone to problems, if you get it wrong - also the replacement LED is not a "like for like" type...but if it works, then hopefully this might give some people the solution, if they have the same problem as me.

You need OEM screen one of them:
