I changed the speakers to Balance Yes but it made no difference. In the config program all of my presets are set to Default.
I had just noticed last night that the treble and bass setting were greyed out in the Legacy Config Program when using the 561 and 861. I did some experimenting and found that if you switch the speakers to non-DSP then treble and bass settings become available. However, if that non-DSP speaker program is stored to my 861 the comms to the speakers work the same and the control issues I'm having stay the same.
On page 28 of the 861 users manual under the "Customizing the 861 Reference Controller" section it says "If you have a Meridian DSP Loudspeaker the Treble and Bass settings apply to all DSP presets." Then on page 85 under "Configuring using a computer" it says "Note: The treble and bass settings will not be available if your system includes DSP loudspeakers, because in this case the DSP speakers handle the treble and bass adjustments." This means that treble and bass are not available in the Config Program because the surround controller uses the Master speaker to adjust bass and treble. So it makes sense that the settings are greyed out in the config program because when the system is being controlled by the surround controller the Slave speakers bass and treble settings should change globally via commands from Master speaker.
In my systems it seems that in Master DSP speaker is not properly routing commands to the Slave speakers. Again, the Master speaker allows adjustment of treble and bass but the Slaves only allow adjustment of the treble. So what the heck is going on here? Am I missing something when it comes to how the 861 and 561 surround controllers are supposed to function, is my controller or speaker configuration somehow set to lock out bass adjustment on the Slave speakers, or do I actually a comms problem? This is why I am curious to hear from any 561 or early series 861 users. Do bass and treble adjust on all your DSP speakers when using the MSR or front panel controls?

I'm am not sure why your system is not allowing bass adjustments. Is it changing the sound of both speakers but only indicating on the Master?

What size have you got your DSP speakers set to? Small or Large? What does the config prog show as the bass flows for different presets?

I did some more testing by switching around comms leads and masters, and by moving the controllers between the systems. Regardless of which speaker is configured as master the slave speakers' bass level does not change. When adjusting bass up and down the slave speakers displays say t._ whatever the current treble setting is, instead of b._ like the master speaker.
dsp6000s and dsp5000s are set to "Large." I did have the 5000c set as Large as well, but I just added an M2500 as a center sub so its now set to Small. When the 5000c is set to master, the M2500 level adjusts properly with the bass level control. (Btw the M2500 makes the 5000c so much more enjoyable!)
With the 5000s in a stereo pair connected to the 561, I can actually hear the Slave speaker "click" a little when I'm adjusting the bass. So its definitely receiving something, but not adjusting bass.
Longitude0- I think you're talking about a function of the current config program. The legacy config program can't do bass management.

With the 861 connected, have you tried routing the comms via the DSP speakers only? and not use the slave patch.

Hi, Frank. Yes, I've tried routing comms through 861 patch panel and daisy chaining from the 861 to Master to Slave speakers. Both ways function the same.

When you switch your left and right speakers but have the new left still as the master and the new right as a slave what happens (don't make any other changes, especially cables)?
