I have a simple 5.1 DSP set up for the cinema room which is currently fed from the TV via optical out, which I believe is compressed audio. If I set the Tv to PCM I get 2ch with Auto sending AC3 at 48k
I have a spare HDMI621 - if I hook that up to take ARC, will that deliver a higher resolution of audio from the Tv? (SONY xh85). I don’t use it currently as I don’t need HDMI switching, but if it helps with higher res over optical then I’ll dig it out.
I can’t remember all of the 48/96 stuff I used to know in the early days, so forgive my ignorance
Thanks for any pointers

The HD621 doesn’t support ARC. I take optical from my TV all is fine
