I use the uncompressed option but this leads to a larger file. I have tested versus compressed on my portable rig and in truth there is little sound difference .

I imported 100 albums into my MC200 today. All went well except they don’t have any artwork. I would very much appreciate some advice please. Should I get my original CD out from the garage and import them one by one with dBpoweramp or should I edit them all one by one? I welcome any ideas?

Easy enough to import the artwork using Control:PC and the web.

Things have deteriorated further. A week ago I could import a file and after 2-3 minutes of waiting the metadata would be found, and was accurate. Now, it does not find any metadata at all, whether the files are recent or older discs. Meridian may say that they are looking into this, but it it seems rather more likely that this is just a further move to sideline Sooloos without bothering to tell anyone. It would be very easy to send out a quick explanation, particularly to their dealers, if this is just a server issue that is being repaired.

Still not working for me...at all. 5 minutes of searching and still come back with UNKNOWN artist and UNKNOWN album. For now, I'm just manually typing the info in.

The only problem I have using DB to rip and then add to Sooloos is I nearly always get a 0 sample rate for those particular albums when I interrogate my stores/libraries. The albums load and sound fine, but it really is annoying when may of them show the 0 sample rate instead of the actual sample rate. It makes me think something is wrong with the albums even thought they play 100% ok.

I thought it was just my MC200 playing up again - glad to see I'm not alone. Getting no results from Metadata either today - so it's manual entry at the moment. Hoping this is not another deterioration in Sooloos support - starting to rethink my options here unfortunately!

If you have the time and inclination to continue with deceased Sooloos, OK!

Roon is one of your future options. As a Johnny come lately I respectfully suggest that the majority of original Sooloos users that frequent this place have moved to Roon with few regrets.

In the Sooloos days I invested many times in the hardware price for this facility. I have now paid my lifetime dues to Roon which in my estimation is a great deal.

Bite the bullet, but do it soon and reap the benefits.

Sooloos is an end of life product which is no longer supported by Meridian.

MrTechGuy offers an MC200 hardware upgrade path to Roon (additional subscription required).

Overall, the best advice for Sooloos owners is to buy a Roon subscription alongside a suitable NUC, or Nucleus/+.

I honestly don't see the point in Roon - it would bring me no advantages and I'd end up paying a monthly fee for some file management software? I have a single end point for listening and the MC200 provides access to my own library (majority of my source) plus I have the legacy Rhapsody/Napster feed as well. Roon would add absolutely nothing to my set up (that I can see) - unless I am missing something? Converting the MC200 to a Roon endpoint was offered by Mr Tech Guy, but that then means the MC200 storage is lost, so I'd need a new storage solution. I don't think Roon will be a long term solution either so the lifetime fee seems like money down the drain.

Even my Meridian dealer is suggesting to dump the MC200 and move over to a Moon MiND 280d with an Innuous Zen Mini providing the storage/ripping service. If this really is the end for Sooloos then it would appear to me to make sense to jump onto another platform (sadly) for futureproofing.

The alternative to a Zen Mini, is a Meridian 210. Attach a USB HDD (containing your music library) to the 210 for it to become a UPnP Server (like the Zen Mini). Control of your music library is via a Tablet, with ‘mcontrolHD’ - which is also able to access Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify.

Roon is much, much more than a music file management system. I rarely listen to much in my existing music library compared to the vast selection of previously undiscovered tunes. I doubt that much of what you already own is in high resolution - which an added subscription to Tidal or Qobuz will unearth. Plus, Roon Radio provides access to the planet’s stations. Click on something you’re listening to and it takes you to the whole album (via Tidal/Qobuz).

Once the album you’re listening to finishes, Roon will endlessly play additional tracks of similar music/genre to the album previously played. This opens up a wealth of undiscovered music you were not aware of.

Think of Roon as a music relational database (compared to the flat-file database inherent in Sooloos/Zen Mini), with access to the works of associated musicians, singers, composers, producers and engineers on any given track.

Even so, given that your MC200 is the only Meridian item in your system I can understand why you would be looking elsewhere.
