My Linksys router suddenly died and I replaced it with a Negtear AX12. Now one of my 818's is no longer visible on the network nor on Roon.

The 818 may have been on a static IP (10.xxx) that is now outside the range of the new router (192.xxx) as I moved from the US to Europe. Looking to change the IP of the ID41 to DHCP or to factory reset the 818.

HELP PLEASE

Hi,

Use Meridian Device Manager to change ID41 card from Fixed to DHCP.

Make sure both the PC you are running Device Manager on, and the 818v3 are hard wired direct to the router with Ethernet cables.
No Ethernet over power, Wi-Fi bridges etc.

Hi Rick, I plugged the 818 directly into the router and also the PC - still, no light on the port, Device manager does not find it.

Thanks for your help

Gert

Have you got the FING app to interrogate your network. It’s free, worth a look to see what’s there...

No 18 in the Hall of fame smile I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best:
GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone

Thanks Rick, I have FING and ran it several times, but all addresses it shows are 192.168. Adresses, not the 10.xxx address that I think the 818 is set to.

Cheers

Gert

To use Fing to find the ID41, you should manually change the IP address of the device running Fing to a fixed address in the 10.xxx.xxx.xxx range, then search that subnet. Once you're done, don't forget to change your device back to DHCP!

Alternatively, would it be easier to change your new router to use the old 10.xxx address range and subnet mask?

Hi Gert,
You say "still no light on the port"
Which port?
The lights on the ID41 network port should flash even if you are on the wrong subnet.

+1
Gert, I suggest you try a different cable / port combination.

Indeed Rick, no lights at all. May be a coincidence that the ID41 died at the same time I switched router..

Thanks for all your help and suggestions.will keep you posted on my findings.

Best

Gert

I would wager that it's the new router/switch. Many switches don't play nicely with Meridian Sooloos. The reason is that they drop UDP packets when making a 1000 --> 10MB transition.

Edit: I didn't see your 192/24 10/8 network change. Certainly, that is the first port of call.
