After not having done any changes to my system for a few years it's time to add a BD player and a HD621, and a new TV.

However, trying to change the configuration gives me errors - and I have forgotten all my Meridian knowledge...

Trying to fetch...

Trying to store changes went just

Work-in-progress of my config:

Is there anything that can be done? Any ideas?

Have you tried using a DB9 null modem cable? What firmware version are you running? You may need to slow the connection down when using USB.

I'm using the Startech USB - RS232 Null modem adapter cable that I have used before - no computer with RS232 interface. A newer computer than I had last time I ran MConfig, don't know if that [faster computer] can make any difference.

How do I see th FW version?

While in standby press Display on the MSR remote. Looking at your screen shot it shows you are trying to use USB to connect.

The G68 has a maintenance port to allow 'direct' USB connection. Installing the FTDI drivers and using an appropriate USB cable is all that is required to connect to the unit.

Have you tried the COMx associate to the cable?

I needed to install a driver to use my RS232/USB cable, I used StartTech.

Try clicking on the Options... button and lower the data transfer rate to 2400 or something similar.

I always have to do this on my G series devices. I think it’s something to do with the adapter.

Domin,

I installed the drivers from the Startech CD that came with the USB --> Null Modem cable.

OK, didn't see there was such a possibility, thanks. Will look again and then try it, either tonight or tomorrow. Maybe my previous computer was so slow it wasn't necessary smile

Pretty sure if you are using a USB to RS-232 adapter you still need to choose RS-232. Choosing USB would mean the connections on the PC and G68ADV are connected with a USB A to B cable.

Didn't see that I should/could choose USB or RS-232 anywhere, maybe that's the error if that's what one should do...
