Hi all

Looks like I've messed up movie night as after getting my G68 back from being repaired (at Mr Tech Guy) and updating a few config values (it was out of date after a few system changes) I've now got no sound out all from the system.

I've got 3 sources plugged into the HD621 and then the 3 blue Meridian wires plugged into the MD2 inputs in the G68. HDMI out from the HD621 is plugged into the plasma screen.

I've got a picture from all 3 sources, but no sound at all from any of them. Wires all seem connected up correctly (and I've connected it up a few times).

I would add my config file if I could figure out how to do it!

Any suggestions on how to add the config file or initial thoughts on what I've done wrong?

Hi,

Double check the G68 config that those 3 sources are using MD2 as the audio input.

Also worth checking the SmartLink wiring as well.

I've taken a few screen shots of my config - I think the G68 has the MD2 set up correctly, as per your suggestion. The physical wiring looks OK based on another look this evening, although I'll go from top to bottom from scratch tomorrow morning when I'm fresh.

All your sources are configurate in Pcm (ideally LPCM if you want have 5.1)?

Yes - and I've not changed the sources recently (and they played fine before)

I'll go and check the wiring again now during my lunch break

Let's look at the basics:

If you run calibration in the G68 do you get the test tones from all of your speakers?

OK - I'm making progress

I had made a wiring mistake on the sound side of things. I'd got the smartlink wires in MD1 not MD2 so now I've fixed that, I've sound from all sources via the HD621. School boy error but I've limited access to the wiring so I picked the wrong set of connectors on the G68 whilst looking upside down and trying to use a mirror to see. Annoyed at myself for not checking properly earlier!

However, I'm not getting a picture or sound from any source via the HDMI output of the HD621 into the plasma.

I'm able to watch movies as my Bluray player has 2 outputs (1 video, 1 audio) so one can be used to feed the plasma directly from the Bluray player. But this isn't useful for the PVR or Firestick. I do have a Vertex Fury2 that I can use but I'd like to know if I've a hardware fault with the HD621 or not (so I can get it repaired in due course).

At the moment, I don't know if this is a config or hardware failure issue in the HD621.

Any help checking out my config files would be much appreciated.

You had picture in your original post from all 3 sources, what's changed?

You're not going to get sound to the Plasma via HDMI, the HD621 REMOVES the sound to send it to the G68

I honestly don't know why the picture has now stopped.
I've not changed the config file nor the HDMI wiring other than trying 3 different HDMI cables between the HD621 and the plasma (none resulted in a picture).
It's as if the current setup means when I have sound working via the SpeakerLink cables, it disables the HDMI output port.

With regards to the sound via HDMI, I was led to believe by a post from MagnusB that it was possible to get both sound and picture via the HDMI output of the HD621, although I appreciate that's not mentioned in the Meridian documentation and I understood that it wasn't possible.

After some help from Carl I've used the gallery to post images of my config file.

Quick update from me in case anyone else has the same issue.

I traced the lack of video output from the HD621 to a config issue.

When using the icons in the config program that allow you to show all connections, video only, or audio only, I noticed that the HD621 was configured with an audio only output. Once I'd added in a new video connection, it was all fine.

Working audio and video from all 3 inputs into the HD621 and onto the plasma and G68. Happy days!
