Do the DSP 6000/7000/8000 series of speakers have built in parametric EQ allowing the frequency response to be contoured or fine tuned to the listener's preference? I don't mean the bass/treble control, but a traditional parametric EQ with adjustable Q, center frequency and gain.

You can do it in 861/Mconfig, but only decay no gain between 0-250Hz.
HT: Audiocom LX800CE, MP-60,HOLO MAY*2 Analogue speaker(LRC), DSP5200SL (side), DSP7200SE (rear),AntimodeX4,JTR Cap4000ULF*2,Christie HD8C,GIK Bass Traps.

If you’re using them without a Meridian processor you could insert a SPDIF DSP unit between them and the source. Lots of caveats though; no SpeakerLink, no MHR etc.

How about using the digital EQ in Roon?
DSP8000SEUP, 218, KEF Blade, Mcintosh Mc611x2, C49, Roon Nucleus. 'lovin the dream.

Thanks for the responses, Chaps.
Vince, it is as I thought. Need outboard DSP.
Albert, don't have an 861, only G91A. Would like to EQ the upper mid/treble regions, not just below 250 Hz.
Syles, I was hoping to avoid an outboard DSP box, even though I have owned a few. I don't see why the separate comms link would be affected by a DSP box in line with the SPDIF feed to the speaker. What do you think?
KTMsteve, I don't run Roon (or JRiver), and don't expect to in the near future. FWIW, none of my gear is Roon compatible.

You can run separate comms and SPDIF, that's not an issue.
The main problem is that Meridian encodes the 24/96 output with MHR, so you'd have to set HS=N and only have a 16/48 output as the DSP unit won't work with MHR.
What DSPs do you have and what Sources do you have?
All the best,
Steve

You're quite right Syles. I did not take MHR coding into account. Another audiophile dream ambushed and put out of commission by a proprietary protocol, I fear.
Not that it matters any more, but the sources are a Squeezebox Touch, Oppo 103 and a cable TV box feeding a G91A. DSP DRC boxes used include Anthem Genesis, Tact (a full function preamp actually) and Acourate software running on a PC.

The main problem is that Meridian encodes the 24/96 output with MHR, so you'd have to set HS=N and only have a 16/48 output as the DSP unit won't work with MHR. I always thought that MHR and HS were orthogonal settings? Meridian always does the right thing in copy-protecting necessary sources (e.g. DVD-A and HDCP-protected HDMI), but I'm not sure what options are actually available in the G91A.

How about using the digital EQ in Roon? Agreed on this one - I use DSP in Roon, and it works great. Doesn't help with HT, but then, I mostly listen to music, so I don't mind. I have been unimpressed with the G61R EQ options, but quite a few years have passed, so I suppose it's amazing for the era. Roon is a far more flexible place to implement nowadays, or, if you have a source which doesn't do such EQ natively, maybe put a MiniDSP (digital) in the chain between said source and the processor.
Main System: MiniDSP SHD (Roon, Dirac, Volume) > G61R > DSP5200 Speakerlink L/R, 2x SVS SB3000 Subwoofers Office1 System: Genelec 8030c L/R, Genelec 7060B Subwoofer Bedroom System: DIY Sure 2x100w Class D Amp, ELAC DBR62 L/R

EQing before the processor won't work if you use the actual processor as a processor though, will it?
What I mean is that, it'll work for 2-channel listening, but the point of a processor, surely, is to actually use the processing for, e.g., Trifield, etc.?
I think if you really want to do this, you'd be best with a completely different setup.

It can be done with a MiniDSP DDRC-88D. The trade-off is having to disable MHR/HS but, for me at least, the sonic benefits of room EQ across all speakers outweighs the benefits that MHR/HS provides.
I have also considered placing the MiniDSP between the HD621 and the M1 inputs but I've yet to find an audio solution that hooks up to HDMI and I quite like my Squeezebox Touch still.
