I found one of these on eBay. It will be a while before I can collect it. Does anyone know or have a reference to the dimensions of the top shelf? And the distance between the column centres? Thanks.

update. Aha - found the data sheet but could still do with the dims between the column centres - where the spikes would touch the floor. Thanks.

Hi Mike
Good news
Dimensions of my rack between post centres are:-
Front to back centres 355mm
Width centres 385mm
But please check yours, when it arrives. These dimensions are governed by the hole centres in the top and bottom shelves.

If you place your TT on the top you will need some decent mounts/supports (3 is best) to enable it to clear the octagonal tops as shown in your picture.
If you need to add shelves you will need additional shelf supports, which just push into holes in posts.

@Hector - great. Thanks. I hadn't thought of attaching spikes to the LP12. My original plan had been to take the shelf from the Sound Organisation stand and add spikes which aligned exactly with the top of the columns - it looks as if they have hole / depressions accordingly and might be a bit more secure as well as providing a path for the vibrations.

Hi Mike
The holes in the top of the columns are the allen key bolts used for assembly.
It is also good to know that the thickness of the plate glass top and bottom shelves is different to the smaller shelves in the middle. IIRC top and bottom are 8mm and mids are 6mm toughened glass.
P.S. I only ever used 3 mounts on my TT (The milking stool method) as it saved having to purchase adjustables.
Hope this helps Hector.

@Hector. Thanks. The datasheet claims all shelves are 10mm but, as you mentioned before, best to wait until I get it and can get the tape measure out smile Cheers.

Hi Mike
If I recall correctly 10mm was an option for very heavy units, at extra cost. My shelves are at most 8mm and 6mm respectively, but sufficient for the loading in my application.
For a very heavy power amp 10mm would be advised. I think 10mm shelves may have been specified as standard on much wider units where more than 1 unit could be placed on 1 shelf.
10mm is standardised Marketing Blurb and misleading.

Just for info if anyone else falls across this thread, I got info from the original Stands Unique designer, Rod Keith and the "normal" shelves are 6mm. Important to specify toughened if you are having a glazier make some up.

Hi Mike

Thanks for confirming my measurements. Pity this company (Stands Unique) no longer exists, as the modular product design concept offered a complete range of great quality/value solutions for all applications and dimensions also desired finishes.
Pity Rod Keith cannot revive the designs. They still rank highly IMHO and can be easily modified by simply replacing the existing glass shelves with new, of the required width, depth and thickness.

Heavy Power Amps should be placed on the bottom shelf of adequate thickness.

I hope you are happy with yours.

I owe you thanks for suggestiing one on the first place! Yes, I'm very happy. Couple of minor tweaks to come. But it sounds great. Thank you.
smile Mike
