Hi all,

Not had any problems with my 861v2 since I first bought it years back. Recently tried setting a new profile using the legacy software and it failed to update. I powered the unit down and switched it back on and all it does now is just keep resetting itself, Meridian 861 comes on the display then goes off and repeats.

Has anyone experienced this, is there a way to do a factory reset if the unit is constantly resetting itself, I used to be able to at least connect via the software from a computer and just reload profile.

I expect the issue is with the 800-C00 card, is there a way to flash it back to factory settings using the jumpers on there card itself?

Any advice would be much appreicated.

You will need to re-type the processor. The steps are found on page 48 - 50 of the user manual.
Hopefully this works for you.

When was the last time the power supply was replaced? Retype by holding down the volume button while in standby.

Thanks for suggesting re-typing it but that’s the first thing I tried, the unit doesn't seem to hold the settings the next time it boots up it just continues to cycle through displaying "Meridian 861" then switching off.

The PSU hasn't been upgraded so maybe it could be related to that.

I will probably just sell it as spares if I can't find anyone to repair in the UK.

The PSU is cheap and easy to replace. Would be a nice next step before resorting to parting it out.

Sounds exactly like a power supply issue. DIY it's about £40.

The power supply you are looking for is a ECM40UT31. They can be sourced from Farnell or RS Components.

Do check Meridian's Technical Note 7a if you have a different PSU installed as the wires need re-arranging.

Just make sure that you tweak the 5v to read between 5.1v and 5.2v for reliable operation.

Good luck.
Steve

Hi Steve,

Thank you very much for the info, I will get a replacement to test out if its not too difficult, will take you up on the offer if I think its too much for myself.

I'm also waiting to hear back from Edd (Mr Tech Guy) to see if there are any service/upgrade options.

Much appreciated,
Adrian
