I’ve downloaded the free 30 day trial of Audirvana for MacOS, and purchased the iOS Audirvana Remote. This is my experience of using the software...

My Mac Mini Server resides upstairs, while my Meridian system is located downstairs.

The route between the two is: Mac Mini > Devolo Homeplug (upstairs) > Devolo Homeplug (downstairs) > Meridian 210 > Meridian 218 > Meridian M6’s.

Once installed on my MM, Audirvana instantly identified my Meridian 210 on the network. Similarly, the 210 was identified on Audirvana iOS. Also, on the Meridian Control iOS app, I chose ‘Network’ as the source.

On playing Bob James Trio ‘Espresso’ (MQA) on my MM the MQA LED illuminated on my Meridian 218, and the album played through my M6’s.

On the downside, so far the Audirvana experience is no different than using ‘mcontrol’ iOS with an attached USB HDD on the 210.

On the Meridian IP app, entering ‘mcontrol://‘ enables the 218 to open mcontrol. By comparison, Audirvana doesn’t similarly work: as ‘Audirvana (R)’ is not one word, unlike ‘mcontrol’. I did try ‘audirvana _(r)’ to no effect.

With Audrivana in the mix, the sound isn’t as ‘clean’ compared to using mcontrol (as explained above).

Also, while using Audirvana, by my Wife switching on our Smart TV (UPnP), Audirvana caused the Meridian 210 to fall off the radar in preference to our Loewe Bild7. That is, Audirvana can only cope with a single UPnP device on the network. Pity.

Hi Spinaltab,

Interested to hear if you get album covers on Audirvana remote app?
Also interested to hear how you configured and connecting the 218 & 210. I found it quite challenging to configure that, and seeking the best way to do so in my setup.
Anything you can share is helpful.

Guido.

As I had ripped my albums in dBpoweramp and PerfectTunes, Audirvana on iOS/MacOS accurately displays my album artwork.

As for connecting my 210 to my 218 I simply followed Meridian’s instructions: it works as expected.

Connect 210 SpeakerLink output to 218 SpeakerLink input.

Set 210 to ‘Network’. Set 218 to ‘SLS’.

The 218 is the Controller, with DSPs connected to the 218.

Even so, as you own Roon, why are you even bothering with Audirvana?

During my 16 hours of quiet time, I hooked-up my MacBook Pro directly to my Meridian 210 via USB (rather than stream over my home network from my Mac Mini Server).

In this set-up, Audirvana instantly recognised my 210.

By comparison, Amarra Luxe did not recognise my 210 at all (irrespective of changes to system preferences and/or MIDI Audio).

Amarra does recognise my (mothballed) Meridian Director.

Clearly, the USB input on the 210 will only recognise UPnP compliant software.

So, if you were considering a dedicated Mac Mini music server directly connected to a Meridian 210, Audirvana is your budget software option.

Im confused!! The 210 has no USB audio input.
The USB input is used for connecting an external HDD. This turns the 210 into a UPnP server.

I did not state ‘USB Audio’ input at all.

Audirvana is UPnP compliant (as is WindowsOS).

What USB input are you using?

Audirvana > MacBook Pro USB out > Meridian 210 USB in
