Unfortunately I do not have a LOCAL Meridian dealer. The last four I have used no longer exist as Meridian Partners.
I am not in East Anglia.

Sorry to take this a bit off topic, but to my ears, the firmware for the 8k most certainly changed over a couple of releases. Can't remember which (might have been the one before last, not the new crossover one) but the top end rolled off earlier, and I felt there was noticeably less bass extension. There was more of a lift in the mid bass. There did seem to be better coherence across the mid though, something just felt more "right" about that, particularly with vocals, so I stuck with it. I swapped the firmware back and forth, it was a repeatable observation.

Cheers

Sorry to hear that your local dealers have not lasted the test of time.

We do travel the UK for our clients, much like other Meridian dealers.

Looking at your signature, the DSP5200SEs you own are the newest model - were they supplied by one of the unfortunate dealers, now out of business?
If not, why can't they come to you, as I'm sure they delivered and installed the speakers?

Kindest,
Ian

Meridian apparently has no dealers/agents in Sweden now but the dealer in Stockholm who supplied my 7200SEs and also did my 808v5 to v6 upgrade has promised to contact Meridian directly for the latest firmware. perhaps you can enquire the same from your old dealers?

Yes I got help from Ljudmakarn in Stockholm/Sweden, they asked Meridian directly for help since the distributor is gone.

Hi Ian at Martins,

In answer to your questions the answers are yes and no. This thread is a sad indictment to the service levels which were previously synonymous along with technical advances provided by Meridian to domestic customers.

Maybe Meridian could subsidise your travel costs and time 100%, to support loyal or even previously loyal UK customers in order to recover from a lost market position.

sleep Oh dear I have just woken from a dream.

I managed to update my 818s, and whilst it does all that it is supposed to with MQA, I thought overall the sound might now be slightly clearer, and possibly more so with PCM?

Perhaps need to test more with some favourite albums, and may make a bigger difference if you use Roon DSP.

It’s not working for me. I just had my 808v6 and 8kSEs updated to 4.14 and 3.16 respectively but with DSP on Roon I only get PCM 96k displayed on the 808 and MHR 96k on the 8ks. I cannot get OFs to display anywhere. If I turn DSP off then then I get the MQA. display as normal. It seems that the Meridian kit is not recognising the stream as MQA and so there is no final unfold in the 8ks when Roon is performing DSP. Any ideas?

In the release notes that Bruce posted, it mentioned:
Quote
Additional firmware releases are planned for the 218 and 251 in relation to receiving MQA Core streams.
Does anyone have any insight as to when we may expect these?
