The Control app for the Meridian 210 includes Spotify Connect.
Is Spotify Connect a proprietary connection method (requiring a license by Meridian), or is it simply UPnP/DLNA by another name?

Hi Spinaltap, This information comes from the manual: To stream via Spotify Connect, or Roon.
Spotify Connect streams are controlled by the device, but transferred to the 210 directly from the music service over the
Internet. It is therefore necessary to have an Internet connection to stream from Spotify Connect.
Roon streams are controlled and played on the Roon server, and streamed to the 210 over the local network. It is therefore not necessary to have an Internet connection to play from a Roon server.
To stream from a UPnP music server
If a UPnP music server is accessible on the network, the 210 can stream music from the music server using an appropriate control application such as Bubble UPnP or Audirvana.
The 210 can itself be used to host a UPnP music server. Does that answer your question? Guido

It's proprietary and licensed by Spotify. Though there are many ways to achieve Spotify playback. I am curious, why do you ask?

Companies usually send in products to Apple and/or Spotify for review to add Airplay and Spotify Connect functionality. Spotify have very strict requirements for when the device is ready, such as a minimum requirement for how long it takes from you press play to music starts playing through your speakers in miliseconds. Should the product for whatever reason fail this review, it's back in the queue again which can add additional weeks or months before it is ready for launch if you wish to ship with certain features.
Judging by the 2018 production date in my 210, i think its possible to deduce that Meridian has had the 210 ready to rock and roll for a while. in this case, Apple took its sweet time reviewing it, which could explain its absence.
To take a wild guess, products that sell in bigger volumes probably gets prioritized and moves through this review process faster.
