I am getting a very loud hum from my front right speaker via my G68J analogue output.

Having recently updated my system to include a HD621 in order to connect the HDMI out from my Oppo UDP-203 Bluray to G68J (previously, I was using analogue connections to the G68J).

I have connected up the HD621 to the G68J via 3 digital cables to get 5.1 sound. However, I am now I getting a nasty loud 'hum' from the front right speaker. This speaker is supplied by a mono block amp, when I change to the left channel there is no hum?

I have changed interconnects to see if this is the issue but that has not helped. It sounds like an 'earthing' kind of hum. Could it be the output from the G68J for the right speaker is now playing up or not earthed properly or a dry joint?

Any suggestions or ideas to help fix it would be appreciated.

If your cables and amp are fine like you have indicated, you may need to check the solder connections on the analog output for that channel or check to see that there isn't something else wrong with the connector on the G68.

Try taking a short piece of wire and touch the ground side of a known good RCA channel to the affected one to see if it goes away. Also, does it continue to hum with no other source equipment connected to rule out a ground loop hum?

Reflowing the solder joint may take care of it.
