No 18 in the Hall of fame I have simple tastes; I am content to settle for the best: GIK monster bass panels, rear wall. QNAP TVS 471i3. Roon into DSP5200SE via 210/ 218 zone... Explorer 2. Bluesound Pulse 2, Mini & Flex. 596v1, 518, Foxsat HD, Sony BDP, Pioneer 5090, 2 Chromecast's for LRB videos. MS200 to F80 for a Roon zone
There appears to be no Meridian branding on the headphones themselves.
"Wonderful perfect quadraphonic sound with distortion levels so low as to make a brave man weep" - Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz of the Galactic Hyperspace Planning Council
That power switch looks huge, ugly, and not very well made. The cable entry looks very prone to breakage, almost everyone else does a plug there, and for good reason.
I think Meridian have lost the plot, they seem to be becoming a follower rather than a leader.
Have all of their design and engineering staff left the building?
Is there an engineer at the helm, or has he been replaced by a marketing or finance type?
I agree. These managed to make me even sadder than the ‘new 200 series’. At least they had the excuse for those that they were supposedly install only. I have no idea what the rationale here is when surely the whole idea is to use the brand values to attract revenue and new customers and you produce an(other) bog-standard off the shelf design without even a Meridian logo on them.
I don’t know who’s at the helm - probably the same guy who thought the new install stuff ‘looks cool’? Whoever it is, to misunderstand the brand’s design and engineering heritage to this degree is quite heartbreaking to watch.
Although I don't remember hearing about a tie-in. You'd hope M would be more selective about who it jumps into bed with & not spread its favours around too generously.
