Hi,

I'm looking to buy a Meridian system with passive loudspeakers. My doubt is if to buy a new G65 as main DSP processor or search for a good deal for a 861v4, v6 with linear PSU or v8.

Mostly listening 2 channel music.

Thank you for any advice,
Alberto

Hi Alberto

If you can find an 861v8 for a good price this would be the best option. I find it to be excellent with 2 channel music, the analogue output cards are extremely good.

Regards
Phil

+1 ... for an analogue setup it's a no brainer (subject to budget of course).

(I also say same even driving DSP speakers, but that's more open to debate.)

Carl

When you say "mostly 2 channel" does that mean you need some surround capability? If not you don't need a processor.

I have the same issue. I only have three front speakers and like to use Trifield for music.

Is there no option to a full processor like a G65?

The speakers are wired in for SpeakerLink.

If you can find a good deal on a 861v8. It has superior analog out as well as an optional ID41 input card for Roon/Sooloos source which is great for 2ch music listening.
