Hi Folks,

My first post so apologies in advance if this has been asked many times before (although I have spent more than an hour searching). If it has please let me know where I can find.

I have just invested in the prime (but not the PSU) and not 100% sure on how to connect to my G68ADV. From what I have picked up it looks like it’s a connection from the copy zone area to the L/R inputs on the prime but as I have never set up copy zones before I'm not sure of the following:-

Zone 2 or Zone 3 or no difference?
Do I need to go into config menu to set this up after?
Fixed or variable for volume control in the source options?
Any requirements on firmware version at all?

Suggestions for leads welcome.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Hi,

All a bit quick but ___ Welcome to the forums!

1. I don't think it makes much difference _ Zone 2 or 3 (although someone will probably disagree!).
2. You can set up using the configuration 'wizard' from the front panel (about p33 in the manual)
3. Fixed volume output (p35 in the manual) so that you can control volume from the Prime.
4. I don't think the firmware version on the G68 is an issue.

Obviously, depending on your sources you could also completely bypass the G68, and save yourself some A/D and D/A conversions.

Brian

Is the sound of the Prime all you expected it to be?

I have used the Bottlehead Crack amps for some time now. I have a highly modified Crack amp that sounds very good. I purchased the Prime and the power supply because I also really like the Meridian sound. I found that the units left me wanting as far as the sound goes.

I would really like your feedback on your reaction to the sound of the Prime. I am using Sennheiser HD800S headphones.

Best, John

InnerTube, once I've set up I'll report back. I'm running Senn 650's so should be close enough for a comparison.

I've had the Prime connected for a few weeks now and I'm very impressed. I'm running Sennheiser 650's and I've never heard them sound so good.

Playing around with the spatial processing has allowed me to settle on setting i, although I'm still tempted to turn it off for some of my early rock recordings as that is the way I've always heard them and I guess that’s how the bands wanted them to be heard.

Bottom line there is a marked difference between flat and i.

I've yet to input anything other than CD from my G98 so I can't comment as to whether higher res recordings via a laptop or portable player will reveal even more detail. Anyone experienced this?
