I have two questions related to a pending migration from Sooloos to Roon. Please bear with me as I am not particularly technically proficient and so will appreciate it if anyone might offer guidance.

I plan to export my Sooloos library from a MD600 to a QNAP NAS. My library consists of about 5,500 CD files all imported via Control:Mac in FLAC format and 2,500 TIDAL links and metadata. I understand from reading older threads here that one should export in ”native” form from Sooloos for Roon use.

(1) How do I set export to “native” in Sooloos Control:Mac?

What I see in Control:Mac Sooloos in “settings” is a tab for “export format” that when opened reveals a screen with options for:

- None (Do not transcode audio for export)
- MP3
- AAC

MP3 is currently checked in my settings (it may have been chosen when my system was set up by the installer in 2011, but I have not used it or reset it to date).

Is “None” the correct setting for native export?

(2) Are the TIDAL links and metadata currently incorporated in my Sooloos library exported as part of this process? I am assuming not, but haven’t seen this discussed so I would appreciate any guidance on this as well.

Thanks,
BruceN

None is indeed the correct way to get a native export.

Unfortunately, don't know about the Tidal links - do these show when you use the Tidal desktop client or Tidal website? If so, would mean they're stored with them and should migrate just by entering your login as opposed to needing anything in a Sooloos export.

Thank you Matt. I thought "none" would get me "native" but appreciate the confirmation. I'll check with Tidal regarding that data.

I am not sure (and I can’t check because I am about 900 kilometers away from my system) but I believe that when you import a Tidal album into Sooloos, it is automatically checked as a favourite within Tidal.

So when you move from Sooloos to Roon, I would guess your Tidal favourites are automatically imported by Roon, assuming you use the same Tidal account for both services.
