I have a QNAP TS253A as my Sooloos core and it is on firmware 4.3.3.0378, which is working well. However, I notice that the latest QNAP firmware is 4.3.4.0644.

I have no reason at all to change my firmware (I dedicate the QNAP just to Sooloos) but as an admitted victim of believing newer is often better I wonder whether anyone has tried any of the newer firmwares?

I suppose there might just be an argument that newer firmwares address security vulnerabilities, but I wouldn't wish to appear in any way paranoid (well, not over this anyway - certain world leaders are a different matter).

Hi,

I stay current with all OS and application versions... but I avoid beta versions (other than to specificly test against).

I’m running QNAP 4.3.4.0644 Sooloos appears to still runs fine ... but I don’t run it it anger these days since switching over to Roon.

Regards,
Carl

Carl, Many thanks. I will give it a try (keeping a copy of the earlier firmware as a precaution). Nick

I've been running 4.2.0.1 because it used to be the only firmware version that would work with the Sooloos app. Has this changed?

Yes, just make sure you are running an update Sooloos version as well.

Thanks. I haven't had a Sooloos update in quite a while. My Sooloos version is 2.538 -- anything later than that out?

Well, I updated QNAP to the latest, and Sooloos barfed -- couldn't find the server. So I rolled back to 4.2.0.1 and everything works again. Shouldn't be this way, but I think I'll just leave well enough alone from here on out.

Same happen to me, I found out that all the settings were changed during the FW upgrade of the QNAP.
Do the settings for ports etc. again as in the instructions video from Meridian.
