I have just recently installed my 861v6 into a new system and am working on room correction. During the RC process the processor randomly shuts down causing the procedure to fail. There have also been a couple of random shut downs while watching a movie. The 861 was been upgraded with a LPS a few years ago.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Wayne

I've seen this before on a simple 218/DSP5200SE system. It was caused by a short in the cable.
Bit of an bummer to check this on a multi-channel system though?
Reference a surround controller re-booting - not one I've seen.

I've had trouble with a broken CO00 card and an old power supply (set to 5V instead of 5.2V). Was doing random restarts.

It is in an open cabinet so I don't think it is overheating. I have had that problem with other components in the past and it is always worth considering. It has not acted up for a week or more now so I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Thanks.

Had similar issues with my G68. Turned out that the +5V supply needed adjustment (5.2V?). No problems since then.

It has been fine for a little while now, but I haven't stressed it hard. I will keep the PS issue in my mind if it happens again.
Thanks,
Wayne

If you have an early v6 it is possible that the cards are not in the optimal position. Refer to this: Preferred Layout For 861v6.pdfIf they are are not, I have written instructions to move them: Meridian 861v6 card move.pdf
