Hi I'm looking for some help as my memory has failed me.

I have the latest 1.07 firmware .mfq files for my G61 and want to update it.

I've updated before, but it was so long ago that I can't recall the process. frown

Can anyone point point me in the right direction.

Thank you!

WiKi - Upgrading Firmware With Mconfig

You also need a USB to serial dongle, again the WiKi will have the information.

WiKi - Debugging RS-232 or USB Communication Problems

I normally lower the baud rate as well. There are enough things to go wrong without setting a really high baud rate.

Cheers. I'll have a read.

I already have a USB to serial converter.

Doesn't the G61 already have a FTDI based USB input? If so, you should just need the official FTDI drivers instead of messing with different USB/Serial converters.

Ian is correct, I updated my brothers G61R via USB direct to an old HP laptop, make sure you connect to the correct USB port as there are two, you need the maintenance one which is next to the RS232 port.

Is that more reliable than the serial adapter method? Just out of personal curiosity. I’ve found the serial adapter quite flaky at times.

Hi Greg

I found both to work ok, the USB is simpler and cheaper. The USB to serial adapter I used was a Keyspan.
