Martins Hi-Fi 50th Celebration
This year Martins celebrates its 50th anniversary. A family run company, founded in 1968 and located on Ber Street in Norwich. We are also proud to sponsor “SKY” who is part of a local charity popular trails around Norwich. Break’s GoGoHares will take pride of place outside our shop on Ber Street.
Our story is one of a business that has been defined by the our ever-changing high street. Our beginnings lay in the story of two brothers, after leaving the Services, they opened a small shop in Norwich selling army surplus electronic components. 50 years later we have become one of the most respected high-end hi-fi & Smart Home specialists in the UK.
To celebrate we are holding a series of events throughout 2018.
To launch our celebrations, we will be unveiling “SKY” the GoGo Hare, our Hare will be part of the city’s trail throughout the summer.
As part of our celebrations Bowers & Wilkins will be hosting the first shop demonstration of their legendary Nautilus loudspeakers, a first for Norwich and East Anglia. We are one of the oldest B&W dealers in the world.
2018 Events
Meridian, Linn, Cyrus, dCS, AVID HIFI & Rega. September is also a special moment when we host another first for our region, the KEF MUON loudspeakers will be in our Norwich store available for customers private demonstrations and also a special event hosted by KEF. Martins will also be hosting Enno Vandermeer and Roon will be explaining music player software in this digital age. Customers will also be invited to talk to, question and learn from the creator of this amazing system. Our heritage will also be celebrated by the renovation of the awning on the shop front. This awning was originally put away nearly 40 years ago. Our aim is to bring is back to life and relive our heritage.
One of the biggest changes will be Ted Martin, the founder of Martins Hi-Fi stepping down and his daughter Elizabeth taking over. She will become one of a handful of women at the helm of British Hi-Fi retailing. Elizabeth is a member of the Clarity board and helps lead the industry forward, a fantastic achievement in a male dominated industry. The future will be an exciting time for a business who experiences one phrase more than any other.
“wow, we didn’t know you could do that”
