With about a month of v2.5 in the 568.2, I think I have found an issue:-

Scenario 1 - CD in tray (598DP via Smartlink) and play disc. Source can be either CD or DVD (only difference being preset default). Counter shows disc is playing but no sound. Flick between different sources and back to CD or DVD an still no sound. Only way to get sound is to put the system into std-by and then try again. Always cures but the problem is intermittent.

Scenario 2 - Put DVD in and play movie. OSD show Movie 6 and all other expected info, however, zero sound from centre channel. L/R and surrounds are working though. As with previous issue, the only way to resolve is via std-by.

Neither of these issues occurs all the time, but, it is a recurring issue.
I'll be dropping a line to M, but, have any of you 568-ers experienced the same or similar ?

Cheers

Nick

PS...when it's playing properly, I think it is still better than ever.

Nick. I've had the same symptom two or three times in a similar period. Going to standby does not always fix it - pressing "clear" when in standby does, though. Agree with you about the sound quality...

One more springs to mind also:-

568.2 & 598 come out of std-by, but, DSP spkrs do not. Admittedly, I have only seen this once personally, but, Mrs L has called me during the day a few times about it. Seems like the BIG ON/OFF is the only way to solve it. Some kind of comms hiccup. Maybe 'clear' would have worked also.

I guess that v2.5 is still a beta, albeit on official release now, so there may well be a few little gremlins.

Does everyone having this problem have DSP speakers?

I don't have DSP speakers and do not have this problem. I have in the past had a similar problem with the old software.

I've had the same problem from time to time where no sound comes out even though everything looks like it's OK, have had to power off and back on to reset.

The only difference is I'm on a 568.1 so it may not in fact be a V2.5 issue only.

I've had this problem also, and I've only experienced it since installing V2.5. I'm connected to a Panasonic DVD player via an optical cable. It usually happens when I'm listening to a CD, total sound drop-out and the only thing that sorts it out is a 'stand by' and then back on. Strange...

I'm having similar problems, I had the sound drop out exactly as Nick described prior to upgrading to v2.5. After upgrading this appears to have gone away to be replaced with (infrequent) complete failure to lock (indicated by NL on the display and wild oscillations in the front panel indicators). Only a hard reset fixes this. Since the upgrade I've also noticed small "clicks" with track and volume changes, the latter very obvious when adjusting volume at high levels (>70 or so) on DVD-A. This is with an upgraded 568.1 and 598D via smartlink.

Interesting! I had evaluated an msf file for a fellow 568.2 user and I loaded the file to my 568.2. The speaker levels were over the zero level in the configuation. I too had pops when using a toslink connection with version 2.5. My levels are all negative numbers and there are no pops at all.

I guess every setup is different with the new software. probably why it is a beta. For me it is the best ever release...I haven't had any crashes, freezes or pops/clicks with my setup.

The 598 on the other hand has had some problems that needed rebooting to solve.
