I’ve just received my G65 back from the dealer. Power supply was replaced and it is indeed switching on again, however, I can’t get the system to play again. Is there a step by step guide for setting up the system; I’ve worked through the manuals of the DSP and the G65, but can’t get a squeak of sound out of the speakers.
I did reconfigure the DSPs so I could listen through the MS200 while the G65 was being repaired and this worked fine. (Means the speakers are still OK) I’m now trying to retrace my steps and have changed the DSPs to Type 6 which I believe was the original setting. I have even reset the G65 to Type 5 and configure the speakers for just two large SpeakerLink speakers.
The L is the master, R is slave. The G65 is the Controller, L shows "No contr", R doesn’t show either. The weird thing is that the source selection is visible in the speaker displays and so is the volume. Just no sound...
I’m sure it is something simple, but I can’t work out what it is. hence the guide for dummies.
Any suggestions?

Yes, I have in the past used the wizard to configure the sources and the various speaker distances, presets and lip-sync. As I haven’t managed to get any sound since the repair, these settings are not very relevant yet. I have used the wizard to check that aux is still set up for SLS to connect the MS200. I have also tried an analog source to connect to Tape (which I saw was on A4). All to no avail.
I have also in the past used the Configuration Program, but I find this very hard to operate reliably, so have given up on it. I have a saved working setup somewhere, but haven’t tried to connect to the G65 yet.
What I’m trying to explain is that I understand and have used some of the tools available (apart from typing). Over the last few days I have tried a lot, but am now getting very frustrated.

If you list your inputs eg names and connection type Optical, coax etc and speakers then we could probably build you a config file to load to the G65 via the configuration program, but once listed out you would probably find it fairly obvious.
Hi Ratbert, Thanks, but I don’t believe the problem is anything to do with configuring the inputs, it has to do with connecting to the speakers, or the speaker settings themselves. And just to confirm, when I set the speakers to Type 1 they work fine driven from my MS200.
The controller is just not driving the speakers. No sound comes out, not even the white noise used for equalizing the levels of the different speakers, i.e. a signal generated inside the surround controller.
Is there anything I can do wrong with the settings for the DSP5200s? What Type should they be?
Anyone else out there any suggestions?

If you have the means to load a configuration, the above offer to build you one will solve your frustration very quickly. If Meridian serviced your G65, every aspect of its operation would have been thoroughly tested after the repair. As it is either an analog or digital output processor, it needs to be set up correctly and the most effective way to do this is in the configuration software which gives you a bird's eye view of the settings.

Ok, no problem, when I troubleshoot a problem I try to eliminate as many things as possible and the absence of a valid configuration for the G65 is definitely where I would start, can you find your original configuration file and restore it?
Can you confirm you have connected to the correct master and slave SpeakerLink ports?
Have you tried a new cable from the G65 to the master DSP, I am assuming you have daisy chained them rather than home run?
Config of a Gxx series component from the front panel is really easy. There is no need for the OP to deal with MConfig it's not comfortable.
It’s one of the things that makes M look like it still lives in the dark early days of Windows where everything was opaque and nothing ever worked like you wanted. I’ve never got on with it and I never used it at all in years of ownership of 500 and G series. Of course, you still have to do it right

Good luck configuring his system to work correctly with his HD621 from the front panel.

Indeed, and you need to get to grips with Config to get the best out of the system (notably room correction)

Keep in mind that the dark early days of Windows were preceded by the prehistoric days of front panel hunt and peck. The only way to get the maximum benefit of the G65 is to run the configuration program and do the room correction.
