Can somebody explain to me in simple terms how this Optional MHR encryption on digital outputs on the 218 works?
Also, how can I use Tidal with the 218?
Thanks

There is a detailed patent description about it, of course in a "patent language"...

What I understand is that M trying to get a constant bandwith independent of which music/data are transfered. The advantage is that the audio designer "only" have to take care of one bandwidth and can so optimize the distortions what are genertated from the music/data.

The "main" purpose of course is the protection of hires data for copying, that was the motivation or law to do that.

Tidal with 218 is just a audio zone, so it should work easy. I can't tell more as I'm just in the process of buying buy a 218 - ask me later wink

How do you have your MacBook Pro connected to the 218?

They will both be connected to the network switch rather than to each other.

I did not install it myself as I got the SE upgrade at the same time. I believe it is disarmingly simple to install and play with the complications coming in the comms when integrating everything. One custom comms cable required in my case.
