I was at HQ today (in a personal, not a Roon, capacity) and found myself looking at the MCD Pro in the lobby. And I found myself thinking...

What happens if there are more than 15 tracks on a CD? laugh Does anyone actually know?

Can't check, I'm afraid. Mine was stolen when my (then) house (in Sheffield) was burgled about 25 years ago..

Lost my M2s too...

Upside was Des and the Mothership liaised with my insurers and helpfully got me back up and running, and upgraded to boot!

As I recall, it just kept going. Tracks continued to play, track forward and back worked the way they were supposed to, and once the digital counter stopped digitally counting, it was up to the analogue counter between your ears to remember where things were up to ... in between scratching your head whilst studying the CD case.

The only CD we had at the time that had more than 15 tracks was one of those dopey CD test ones - "this is the right channel, this is the left channel" - so it wasn't very interesting to listen to. I think that anyone who had a CD with more than the Meridian-approved limit was pretty much regarded as an edge case!

You will have no problems in playing such discs on your Compact Disc player, but the operation of the PROG Display, the function of the player and the programming will be slightly affected.

The PROG Display will work in the normal way for the first fifteen tracks: after the contents list has been read, all 15 PROG Display LEDs will light. As play progresses these LEDs will go out one after another, while the TRACK Display LED moves along to indicate the track being played. At the end of the fifteenth track, the ERROR lights to indicate that there is still a number of tracks to follow, although this number is not shown on the PROG Display.

The TRACK Display LED continues to operate, so that by simply adding 15 to the displayed track number, you can see which track is being played.

All the functions of the player will remain operative during the whole period of play, except the go-to mode. This can only be used for the first 15 tracks. Programming, both 'Add-in' and' Take-out, will also be limited to the first 15 tracks; higher numbered tracks cannot be stored in the memory.
