Hello Fellow Hitchhikers!

I'm interested in purchasing new or immaculate dealer demo DSP8000SE, DSP7200SE, DSP7200HCSE and/or DSP5200SE loudspeakers from a U.K. Meridian Partner/Dealer with experience shipping to US Buyers. Any partner/dealer recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I'd also welcome advice on what exposure or incovenience I'd be subjecting myself to with regard to warranty (presumably Meridian USA would not warranty Meridian equipment not sold in US) and whether Meridian equipment sold in the U.K. would require a power adapter (here our power is 120V/60Hz vs 240V/50Hz) and if so, whether this could impair the sonic performance of the loudspeakers.

Thanks in advance!

Battles

If you have issues with the local M dealer or lack therof, consider Marc Koval or Bruce with CMB Systems. They have a track record serving customers over a wide geographic area and excellent reputations on this board.

I strongly encourage US based Hitchhikers to work with US based dealers. The DSP speakers have 220 volt power supplies in Europe, the US versions are 110 and suitable for US standard power. Also, support is much more straight forward from a US dealer. Also, the shipping costs from Europe (not to mention duty!) are substantial.

Lower currency conversion, additional $$ freight and transformer change would kill the deal you get from UK so end of it it is not worth it for a bulk purchase; however I would not state the same for lighter goods smile

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago to the effect that Meridian has forbidden UK dealers selling to customers in the US (and presumably vice versa) - a fairly standard restriction I would have thought.

Back in those prosperous pre-Brexit days when the pound was actually worth something, I imported a used DSP8000 center from California and ran it off a beefy transformer with no problems or noticeable effects on sound quality. I eventually changed the internal power supply when I upgraded the speaker to SE.
