It's probably configured the way the previous owner set it up and they probably set the audio to suit the way they wanted to use it. They probably didn't have all of the inputs turned on. And your 568 probably needs to be configured the way you want to use it with the HD621.

Did you check to make sure smart link is turned on in your 568 for the multi-channel input?

Who setup your 568? Sounds like maybe you had someone else set it up for you. It's confusing to understand for some people. But once you get a handle on it it's not that hard.

I set up my 568mm with the modified DVDo Edge.

The Edge has 6 HDMI inputs and it only used one for output to the 568. DVD on the 568 was set to multi-channel and thats how the high resolution souund passed.

It was suggested by the seller of this HD621 to reload the firmware.

Where can I get access to the latest firmware for the HD621 without going to a Meridian dealer?

Thanks,
Samuel

So you always have to select DVD selection on the 568.2mm to listen to the multi-channel input.

You probably need to set more input selections to multichannel input on your 568. You need to assign more than one remote source in your 568.2 to select multi-channel. So it's probably your 568 that needs some reconfiguring.

Wish I lived in Florida I could help. Don't think you need to reload the firmware. It's a setup issue.

I would need more info about your setup... which source buttons select audio and video and how many sources do you have and how your 518 is configured in with your 568.2.

I need a detailed picture of your setup and how you use it now. With that I could probably create new type files to make it all work.

It's much easier in person to do this tho.

Actually if you send me your setup files I could figure out your current system setup and modify it for you. Pm me your email address and I will email you. Send your files and I will configure it for you. I will probably have a question or two about the setup and how you want to use it.

Ron

Unless the previous owner of the HD621 changed the source settings the DVD source selection should work if you are connected to HDMI 1 on the HD621. And your 568 hasn't been reconfigured on the DVD source.

Your Bluray player should be set to multichannel pcm output over HDMI. But the other HDMI inputs need to be assigned to sources you are not already using for other non HDMI sources. Otherwise you get no audio.

I had a very similar experience with audio when I set my system up many years ago, a Pioneer player to HD621 to 568.2mm. In the end it turned out to be the VGA cable between the HD621 and 568.2mm

Now, I had purchased a new 'quality' and expensive OEHLBACH VGA cable which I think was recommended. After a week of trying to get things working and in desperation, I put a multimeter on the new cable. A couple of the pins were reversed, (I can't remember which ones)from what a VGA cable should be! So, I used a cheap computer VGA cable I had in my draw, and voila audio all started working! There is a moral somewhere in that!

If you have a multimeter (or another VGA cable) it may be worth a quick check.

Dave

Samuel,

I've looked at the two files you've sent me.

All the 568.2mm sources are active and set to Multichannel.

There only appears to be one HD621 source set up (H3). The HD621 file assumes you have a G91 (if I remember correctly) and the multichannel input is to Multichannel 1 (there are two available on the G91).

You need to set up each input for an input of the HD621 (mapped to an MSR+ source button).

I sent Samuel a setup for his 568 and HD621 mapping sources to all 6 HDMI inputs and configured the HD621 to the same sources. He still is not getting multi-channel PCM from his Bluray player. Seems to only work with 2 channel PCM.

Was thinking maybe the HD621 need a firmware update or at least reinstall it.

Why would you need to do that? Simply ask and you will likely get what you need 😁

Does his player even decode to 6 Channel PCM !!
His DVDO used to do that for him.

He has an Oppo 103 so yes it can output multi-channel PCM.

I sent him a new config last night but have not heard back from him yet. I created sources and assigned HDMI ports and made sure the HD621 was set to multi-channel coax out. I used a G61 as a controller because there is no 568.2mm in the program.
