The original interlink of my HD621 are so tight. When I pulled out the my interlink I also unplugged the connector from my HD621

Check the images

I want a new connector, has anyone an idea where I can find it?

Thanks,
Patrick

Hi,

Those RCA plugs have a wicked grip (too tight imho) so it's always best to twist them when removing.

If you can tease it out from the plug with pliers. I think you can just push it back into place and those serrated tangs will reconnect to signal ground.

Try warming up the plug with say a hair dryer so it expands a little.

Hi,

It depends how it is mounted, it is most likely attached to a PCB, so will require de-soldering. It is likely similar to this PCB mounted RCA socket

The plugs are Neutrik Rean (old style) and are fierce in their grip. The new style are much better.

All I can help with I'm afraid

You won't be able to solder that back in; the piece that's pulled out has come out of the socket that is soldered to the PCB.

have a look here

Meridian use Jalco PCB sockets (well on the 500 series they did), so the only proper fix is to replace the whole socket; pushing it back in may work, but those barbs may well have torn through the plastic.

something like this may do it

All the earths are probably common, so a bodge would be to connect the earths on the RCA leads togather.

Good luck,

Steve.

Thanks for your reaction, I tried to pull it out with a plier but it didn't work. I also tried a hairdryer but that also didn't work. I hope someone can get me a new connector.

Meridian usually uses a much better grade socket. Including on 500 series.
But they do vary in quality even on the same component.

I noticed the HD621 uses a cheap socket. In fact you couldn't find a worse connector.
The ones linked above are much better because the shield is common on all the plugs and can't be pulled through panel hole.

Technically it will run without that shield because it will pickup the ground from the other end and it's often a short run.

Even if pushed back in it may not be well grounded and will come out too easy (even with a weak grip). But it would "work". You could shove it in, as it came out.

Don't use those tight fitting RCA on cheap connectors. You can tell which ones are cheap. They wobble if you wiggle the RCA plug.

This was taken from one of my 518s, made by Jalco.
It's not great, stamped metal; the bar you can see at the rear is a flat piece with a slot cut out, this is where the signal (+) goes.

Construction like that makes me laugh when people get all anal about 75ohm RCA plugs that cost a fortune...

That's certainly not the best, but quite a bit better than the HD621.

It's ok to be stamped metal (not great but ok), but how it's constructed/mounted is important.

It appears that gold shell is one piece and directly soldered to the PCB board.

The HD621 that pulled out doesn't look that way. Just pressed into plastic. with no flange.

I think you'd have one hell of time pulling the shell out of that 518 socket.
But still considered a "cheap" socket, just better designed.

Not sure how the older stacked ones were built.

Even on an old 561 the RCA's varied. The Digital Outputs look much better than say the Video RGB ones.

Same goes for G61. The Analog/Digital Outs look solid (not stamped) but all the I/O is stamped. Hard to know if it's HD621 grade or 518 grade. But there is a small flange on them (on the outside, which would help against wiggle but not sure how much resistance there is to pulling the shell out)

I agree about the comments on cables. Sometimes you are better off with a "cheap" cable on a cheap connector, so as not to stress it.
