MQA explained: Everything you need to know about high-res audio which tends to the conclusion (not admitted by the author) that once you get to a certain level of quality it's horses-for-courses on the taste front, and many people have an affection for what they already know - nowt wrong with that! d.
Main: Arcam SR250. 2 x P330. 1 x BK Subwoofer. You know what? It sounds great. Kitchen: G95 (center channel bust). 2 x P320. Kids room. M80.

Oh dear. I read from "How MQA works in practice" to avoid the exposition pages, but that piece doesn't even qualify as damning with faint praise, certainly regarding the sound quality.
Cheers

Extremely thankful that I have my ears and not his, especially with regard to the perception of musicality. Hector

The below quote from the ArsTechnica article sounds like Linn marketing to me, and reminds me of a Linn sales rep who told me about Tune Dem - which is Linns version of voodoo and total BS marketing nonsense. While focusing on an individual strand of a song it is easy to be impressed by the hi-fi clarity of that singer, this soloist, that instrument. But stepping back to hear how a group plays together as a band, I found myself increasingly confused by the result. Rather than hearing an ensemble fitting together to provide a result at least equal to the sum of parts, the overall pulse of the music seemed less coherent. The song's pace was often askew, sounding too fast and hurried Following the tune is much the same. If you try to follow along with the tune you will find that, on a good hi-fi system, the tune will seem to make more sense. The steps will be more regular. The notes that one instrument is playing will have some relationship to the notes that another instrument produces. You will even frequently know what note is coming next. Isn't it the same kind of nonsense? This far I have only listened to MQA through my Prime, and I cannot recognize the above, I find fully unfolded MQA incredible and very musical, can't wait for my 218 to arrive... ... and BTW - did any of you read the Herb Reichert & John Atkinson Mytek/MQA story in the May issue of Stereophile? A small quote from there is: I’m happily addicted to MQA, Tidal Masters, and the Mytek Brooklyn. They sure like what they hear... in the same issue they test multichannel MQA - highly interesting...

I read this yesterday, although I was more interested in the 'review' of the Pioneer XDP-100R.
I think it's pretty clear the guy just doesn't like it, or doesn't want to 'believe' it.
I must have entirely opposite ears and emotional response to him as I'm finding MQA material has, if anything, the musicality re-injected from CD copies of most albums compared to the LP, but with none of the drawbacks of domestic analogue replay.
Who knows whether the rest of his system was up to the task. I do note he qualifies that it might be to do with the two specific DAC chips, but he made no effort to source any others, I note, including Meridian solutions.

The Linn/Chord/Schiit/etc anti-MQA clique/scam looks as desperate as someone losing the ground under his feet. They spread FUD that people=fanboys that tend to like talking about science/technology they don't really understand fall for it. Now, regarding all these sponsored sites, forums, and opinions ... well we know how Internet works, we were not born yesterday. Better trust your ears.
But if MQA (also) tries to solve the problem of online streaming content (and no, Meridian was NOT the (only/first) one that forced us into cloud music and subscriptions) then it has not done a good enough job convincing these services to jump ship. Many people, including me, hate Tidal for their own reasons.
